Prusaslicer - extra gcode files showing on printer

When I export gcode from prusaslicer I'm getting the correct file to save on the thumbdrive. When I plug in the thumb drive into the printer and look for the file there is a second file with a similar file name but a "._" at the beginning. What is this file for? It seems like it's been happening for a while now, but I'm not sure when it started. It seems like the only issue will be that the thumb drive will fill faster (and really the only issue with that seems to be getting the finder (on mac) to eject the drive).

These files don't show on my computer in the finder. They only show on the display on the Mini, so maybe they aren't really even gcode files.

Does anyone know what is happening here?

RE:

Those are files created by OS X to store additional metadata. Normally Finder is not showing them by default, but firmware on the printers or Windows/Linux will not treat it specially and thus will show them.
