Bubbling and stringing
Hi,
I've been using my Prusa Mini for 2 years without a problem and with the same settings, but suddenly I have issues with the PLA bubbling and stringing.
I've tried:
- Changing the nozzle height (any lower and the nozzle scuffs the previous layer).
- Changing the temperature from default 215° to 200° and 190°.
- Changing the PLA to a new reel.
I'm hoping to spend some time tomorrow trying to sort it out and would appreciate any ideas of what to look into. Maybe a semi-blocked nozzle?
Many thanks in advance.
RE:
Your filament is damp. Look up drying here.
There are finger prints visible on your build plate. Time for a dishwashing detergent and *hot* water clean.
And ... how old is that nozzle? You might have some wear.
Cheerio,

Hi Dean,
Thanks for the reply.
Point taken about the build plate.
The PLA is brand new - literally straight from an airtight pack. Could it still be damp?
Nozzle is the original one so could need replacing
Thanks.

It was packed dry - but you don't know how long it was in the warehouse or how it was treated in transit. It could still be damp.

I find that brass nozzles last 9 - 12 months when printing about 12/24. Expect to need to reconfigure first layer 'Z' about three times as it wears but by the fourth time it's losing precision.

Hi Diem,
That's great information, thank you.
