3d print suddenly not sticking - help!
any idea what is happening here? Supposed to be printing a simple square but the PLA doesn't seem to stick. I have upgraded firmware, cleaned nozzle with wire brush, wiped surface of printing plate with alcohol and recalibrated the first layer.
Thoughts?

Have you tried washing the build plate with dish soap (Dawn, Fairy Liquid, etc.) and a scourer? It can make all the difference.

Thanks - I will try that.

any other thoughts on this? I tried to clean and have also swapped the build plate around to use the side that I have never used and same issue. Any other causes?
If it is now really clean run a first layer 'Z' offset calibration and show us the result *on the print sheet*

OK, somehow you have lost most of the calibration ... check your PINDA is firmly in place in case that's the cause - or have you recently changed the nozzle?
Your calibration needs to go much lower, more squish.
At the end of the calibration you are aiming to print a single layer postage stamp sized *sheet*. It should be possible to peel it off in one and fold it without the threads seperating. If it breaks into lines it is too high, not squished enough. If it is a single sheet but with wavy lines or drag marks on it you are too low.
