Modify and recompile the MK4 firmware?

I love my Prusa printers, but the MK4 firmware was a step backward in so many ways. Is it possible to modify and recompile the firmware?

My hit list:

-let me to a cold-pull when I change filament (I loved that about my MK3S. I have NEVER EVER experienced a clogged print head.)

-let me immediately print again with fooling around (immediately after printing, it is unnecessary to let the print head cool, then nozzle cleaning, then peck peck peck, peck, peck in slow motion then heat the print head up again to where it was ten minutes ago.

-remove nozzle cleaning everywhere. I can clean with a brass brush in 2 seconds.

-reduce the number of clicks to change filament (when the sensor says in inserted filament, there is no need to tell it to continue? What else would I do?)

-remove the requirement to do bed leveling, (like if you just got done printing)

-reduce the number of pecks needed to do bed leveling

Again, Josef Prusa is a hero of 3D printing, and I love his 3D printers, but the firmware of the MK4 is a step backward.

Yes. Of course you can modify and recompile the firmware. All changes are likely only possible with custom firmware. Prusa does not offer built-in options to disable them. Running a custom build simply means no official support.

when i loaded 'unsigned ' firmware to my mk3.9 I Had to break the 'Appendix' circuit.
This effectively voids any warrantee on the controller

I suspect this remains the case, regards Joan

I don't have time to look it up, but I could have sworn that around the release of the CoreONE Prusa changed their stance on cutting the appendix. I think now it does not void your warranty unless Prusa can prove that the custom firmware is the root cause of the warranty claim.
