3D Lab Print model issues

Hi!

I've breen struggling to print the Piper Cub, from 3D Lab Print, on my printers.

Basically, the slicer is not "seeing" the thin reinforcement fins that run along the length of the fuselage. So, internal features are printed separate from the fuselage.

I saw the file in Blender (gray image, the starts mark some of the features that aren't printed) and the features are there. In the slicer, when seeing the sliced model, the phantom model shows the fins but it doesn't consider them in the slicing process.

I tried a lot of settings without success.

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this?

I wish to congratulate the team at 3D Lab Print for their models.

Please post the project file for this part, so that we can try and help you.
go to file dropdown menu, choose Save Project as (descriptive name.3mf)
when you have saved the project file, convert it to a ZIP Compressed file (On a windows PC use the Send to Compressed file, option, in File Manager)
then attach the Zip File, to your next post.

the Forum will not let you attach a .3mf file

Thanks for help, Joan!

I linked the original files to Printables.

Hi Nuno,
I think this is what you are trying to achieve

I took the STL from Printables,
Loaded it into Prusa slicer,
Set Spiral Vase Mode with one perimeter, no infill, no top layers and no bottom layers

these changes wiped out nearly all of the internal features
And then,
I edited  the slice gap closing radius to a smaller number, and, as if by magic, the internal braces re appeared.

regards Joan

Hi, Joan!

That is exactly what I'm trying to achieve!

Since both my printers are not supported in Prusa Slicer, I was able to reproduce your settings in Orca.

I'm printing one section now to see the final results.

Thank you so much, Joan!

This airplane is supposed to be ready to today, as a gift. You're a life saver!

So, unfortunately, it didn't work as expected.
One of the pipes is printed in mid air, from layer 16.

And half of the section is initially printed, then there's a gap, and it's reprinted on layer 88 in mid air.

After tinkering with some settings, I made it.

The "secret sauce" was in the closing gap radius, as Joan recommended!

I reverted to standard printing, choose Arachne as the wall generator and kept the closing gap radius to a small value (0.010).
