XL camera
I'm trying to get a camera working with my XL. Plugging it into the usb c port on the back doesnt' seem to make it show up. My next idea was to hook it up to a raspberry Pi but still use the internal prusalink on the XL, in other words just use the pi for the camera. I can't find what software to put on the pi for that. Any ideas?
RE: XL camera
That is incredibly not helpful. They are searching for a piece of software that would send pictures from a pi camera to Connect. Sending a link to another forum without saying anything is not very friendly imo
RE: XL camera
I looked. Nothing there about camera only software for prusalink.
RE: XL camera
But he said "Cheerio" so it's all good.. ;p

RE: XL camera
He always sends that, maybe even automatically
RE: XL camera
It has to be noted, though, that OP had already posted the exact same question in a different sub-forum. AFTER the question had been correctly answered, he decided to repost it here.
A little snark seems OK under these circumstances.
The OP asked how to
just use the pi for the camera
That's a pi question, directing the OP to a forum where dozens of experienced pi users hang out and where repeating the question is likely to get an authoritative answer seems sensible; it's the first place I would go with a similar question. There are at least three ways to directly connect cameras to a pi and a bunch of known incompatibilities, it is not until a valid connection is established that the issue of piping it to Connect, or any other software, arises.

What question did you ask there?
Cheerio,
RE: XL camera
fair point, must have missed that sry
RE: XL camera
Which correct answer was that? Also I didn't realize there was a section just for prusalink else I'd have started here.
RE: XL camera
I don't think this a PI question at all. I"m asking if there is prusalink software available for the PI so I can use it as a camera. There seems to be some for an old iPhone and also for a windows computer running a webcam. If it doesn't' exist that's fine.

@rene-3 had already directed you to: https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/camera-setup-for-prusalink-prusa-connect_470943
If that didn't help then the pi forums are the best place to go for help getting *your* camera connected.
Cheerio,
RE: XL camera
I don't see anything there about a camera on the XL nor do I see anything about camera software for anything other than a phone or a windows pc. If I'm missing it please feel free to point it out for me.

What I'd ask, not on the prusalink bit but on the general forums for Raspberry pi is how can I connect a camera to an api link. Then usenprusaconnecrs api code to connect the camera
Please help me out by downloading a model it's free and easy but really helps me out https://www.printables.com/@Hello_474427/models
RE: XL camera
I think the answer to that is likely beyond my skill set. Maybe a future firmware on the XL will make it plug and play like the current image for the mk3 ..
RE: XL camera
Ok I have no idea why some of the spelling got messed up. Sorry

So you didn't read it. OK, I'm done.

RE: XL camera
I skipped all that. I just went out and got some small WiFi cameras and hooked one up to my MK4 and one up to my Mini+. They just sit behind the printer and observe the print bed and the rest of the printer. When I want to see what is going on I just pick up my iPhone and call up the camera for the printer I am running and see what is going on. I can even do it when I am not home. I know it is simple and I can not interact with the printer but it gives a good view of what is going on. It has worked well for me.
RE: XL camera
Looks like the 5.1 final firmware dropped for the XL. I'm guessing the internals don't have enough processing power to handle the camera (similar to the MK4 I guess).. I think I'll forgo the internal prusalink on the XL and use a pi for all of it like I'm doing on my Mk3s. Seems to be the easiest solution I can spot.
RE: XL camera
The external prusalink doesn't work with anything besided Mk3 and 2.5 family
