User experience, feedback from a newbie

After stuggling finding a pi zero W, I finally could put my hands on one, so here I am.

Running a I3 mk3s+, with the latest firmware (3.10.1-4697), prusalink 0.6.0.hotfix

I want to do a report of my experience for the first instal.

1 – as usually, a lot of documentation, with a lot of work from prusa’s team to make it great.

2 – I am used with Pis, SSH and this kind of stuff. But I have been struggling so much because of some datas which are wrong, not available or not obvious in the documentation :

- First of all, after activating the rPi port , manual says « You should see "RPi Booting..." and "Starting Prusa Link" messages on your LCD. » the screen doesn’t show any informations like these. This lead me to reboot, and remove the Pi multiple times to try to get it wotking, and even flashing again and again without having any message on the LCD.

- Tried to use prusa3d.com/g221744 or the QR code at the begining of the pdf file, but this sends me on a page where I was unable to scroll the documentation. I could see the first page, but that’s all. This page doesn’t work. ( https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/prusalink-and-prusa-connect-mk3s-mk3s_221744 )

- I fortunately got a phone call at the perfect timing, which lead me to let the printer sit powered for a while, and finally got an IP adress on the LCD, but not written as on the documentation : I got GO 192.xxx.xxx.xxx instead of OK 192.xxx.xxx.xxx. I now understand that this is correct, but documentation should be updated to show a GO, and not a OK.

- I have been through the process of prusalink configuration, but It had failed to add the printer to Prusaconnect. (using win 10 / chrome)

- I was able, by the way, to correctly use the prusalink page.

I will retry configuration later to make it go to prusa connect

I reflashed the Micro SD card, and by using another computer (win 11 / chrome), I have been able to go to the end of the process, printer is now on prusaconnect. "RPi booting" & "starting Prusa link" was never displayed on the LCD screen, and this can be very confusing As I always felt that something was very wrong for first 5 minutes.

I also removed symbol "#" from the name of the printer, as someone on this forum had issues with the same process with this symbol...

Hopefully this feedback can help someone finding out what's going on for his first instal, and that I fulfill Prusa's feedback expectations for improvements.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I know that booting messages are missing, sorry about that, could have fixed that in the hotfix version... I have not yet heard of # breaking things tho. Thanks

Absolutely no problem. And I do remember it is a beta, so all of this is expected.

Thanks
