Why heating bed when changing filament?

I wonder if there is a reason why the printer also heat the bed when manually changing the filament (not via color-change in gcode).

I usually preheat the nozzle to the printing-temp of current filament, then go to filament-menu and unload. It then starts to heat the bed (not needed).

I then use the load filament from menu, and again it pre-heats bed to temp as well (or starts to) but will change the filament if nozzle is up to temp.

Not critical, just annoying.

heating

Every printer I own does that.  I would guess that they assume you are planning to print if you are changing filaments.

Possibly

I guess that's true.

For my old delta and nereus i have always changes the filament manually by heating the nozzle, then push a tiny bit out (the ramming on the mini) and yank it back.

Granted, when using the change filament on my first printer, it was excrutiatingly slow feeds so i just always used the manual process after that.
