which wifi module to get

So I would like to get the Wi-Fi module for my mini+ but it does not make sense to pay $14-$20 for a $6 dollar part.

in the installation instructions there is a link to a community list of other wi-fi modules but its quite  extensive.

Any recommendations on which one to purchase - from the US?

RE: which wifi module to get

I bought two different ESP8266 ESP-01S WiFi Transceivers in Amazon, one didn't work at all and the other worked intermittently for a few months and then stopped working. I don't know where Prusa sources their modules so maybe the ones in this site are more reliable? Either way I've had bad luck and I'm looking for a way to use ethernet instead.

Well if you don't want to get the one from the prusa store, have you seen this list? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ql2TmS8O5Bkuf9SRhfP67RRD1isdThyN96f9M2KdSg4/edit?gid=0#gid=0

When purchasing my kit I went ahead and included the wi-fi adapter. Forget to included the filament sensor. Ordered a couple "compatible" ones off Amazon. Ended up having to purchase an Original Prusa in the end. Cost 3x as much than if I just went ahead and made sure I bought the Original Prusa in the first place. As for the different manufacturers, reminds me of an issue we had with SCRs for the Radar back in the 80s. Come to find out even though there were several manufactures making these SCRs and they're used in many many different pieces of equipment. One and only one particular manufacture made there's to be a little bit heavier and was able to handle that current load. I mean the others worked. Worked for awhile then smoked or they'd smoke on first lit. I figured Prusa's making sure they get chip from "their" manufacture they trust. I mean Prusa after all ain't Chinese.

In UK so not sure if you can find the same one but I got the GTEK ESP-01S ESP8266 Wireless WIFI module off Amazon and it worked great straight out of the box. No issues for 5+months. My main drive was that I did not need anything else from Prusa and did not want to pay for the extra shipping costs.

Good to know! Yeah if you forget to get something on the initial purchase. It’s hard to justify the shipment from there to especially here in the US. Luckily found a couple companies here with Original Prusa stuffs.
