RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

I'm OK with delivery dates, considering it's Prusa product for a price of €350.  huge demand will work out into customers benefit developing this 32bit setup at insane speed. I bet i3 mk4 will receive 32bti board as well! 🙂

@strandedbandit

I have heard there is an effect, but is hard to tell if the quarantine would have a huge effect.  It is shipping.

My guess is both the upcoming XL and the inevitable Mk4 will use the same 32-bit board and probably the same firmware 🙂

@kristoffer-tell

Pusa already confirmed the 32bit board is the future.

I have come here to chew bubblegum and perfect my MINI ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

Yes, but afaik, they haven't been specific on the timeframe. Hopefully all new product development is dedicated to the new board.

The way they currently handle the 8-bit board, trying to eke more customisations and refinements out of the limited capacity reminds me of the old 8-bit game Elite on the BBC Microcomputer, where the programmers spent ages saving a byte here and a byte there, in order to cram an entire galactic cluster of planetary systems complete with their own economies, and the rendering engine for all the spaceships and stations, into the 16 kilobytes of RAM that the machine had available.

Mine order was one of the first on the 14th and mine hasn't shipped yet. Still hopping this week! I ordered:

Original Prusa MINI - Color : Black, Spring steel sheet : BOTH STEEL SHEETS: Smooth PEI & Textured powder-coated, Filament sensor , PLA Prusa Galaxy Black

Here is the latest from CHAT:

Yes - granted that there are no hiccups with shipping/expedition, you will receive the shipping notice by Friday. Believe me, I'd gladly tell you the exact day if I could - it would make it easier for both of us, but I can't promise something that I have no information about, because it changes every day.

Same here.. Mine was delivered to a Neighbour so it will be there when I get home.. Mine is an Oct 13th order with both sheets and Filament sensor....

My colleague (also an Oct 13th order) got his last week and spent time with it over the weekend.. And on his first print, it developed a horrible jam that took a complete strip and rebuild to fit.. And his turned out to be the problem where the hotend had dropped. This is well understood and documented, so its worth checking all new deliveries before using.

Still? I thought by this time they have some assemble guides with detailed instructions for people assembling them and customers should not encounter this issue anymore. Or was it a case of screws not being tightened properly?

I don't know how it happened.. But he started his first print and it all looked OK, but when he came back a little while later, there was space between the head and the print job... And the inspection cover was full of PETG "dust" where it had been ground to nothing.

I don't know if he contacted Prusa or just rebuilt it himself (he is an experienced MK3 owner), but the bottom line was that the hot end had dropped and he had to push it back up.

So his warning to me today was to check mine before printing, and thats what I will do.

Just ordered a mini and found out, at best, i will get it after 5 month! 😨

I ordered mine just before Christmas. Currently expected to ship late April. I've already got an MK3S.

Whatever you find to do with your hands, do with all your might!

I have a question for those lucky ones who already get to play around with their minis - would the filament feed properly if I placed my spool like this:

I realized I don't have a lot of room for it...

It properly wood feed OK. There is a PTFE tube from extruder drive (and filament run out sensor. if you have one) that the filament have to enter in an angle for your arrangement. It will be possible to extend the PTFE tube and give it an angle towards your spool placement.

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

@matteo-cristini

Yes it will.  Mine was setup on a table for the first few prints, but it's moving into a cabinet that will have the same layout you're showing in your picture.  I did it this way so that I can swap spools easily.

All your filament are belong to us!

All right, thank you both for the feedback 🙂 yes I did get the filament sensor.

@area51 I might extend the PTFE tube as you suggested, good idea.
