think they mean long lead times
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@crawlerin
No. That's not what I was saying at all. I was responding to YOU talking about quick iteration. My point is that if you actually spend time DESIGNING and TESTING a product before you ship thousands of units, you don't need to iterate a bunch of times. It's poor design vs well designed product.
As an example, we are now on the R5 version of the MK3 extruder. Over two years later, 5 revisions, and the extruder on the mk3 is STILL a piece of crap. lol

@kristoffertell
I don´t get your point. I know that you are completely pissed by Prusa because of their behavior and also of shipping a beta-version (in your opinion) of the MINI. Thats ok and is your position. But why do you try to convince the community that we have to see it the same way you do?
I am not pissed at Prusa, the whole situation is a minor inconvenience at most. What's making me more annoyed is people in this forum that keep defending everything the company does, seemingly no matter what, as if PR were some tiny hobby project run by 2 people in their parents' basement and as if the the way they do things is the only way they could possibly do it. And as if all the criticisms that people have stated here are completely unjustified, or somehow their own fault ("you should have known" etc.)
Also, I'm not trying to convince anyone. I'm stating my opinion, that is all.
Have you ever started & grown a company? How about doubled its size every 6 months for 4 years? How about quadrupled the product offerings in the last year? Maybe not still a startup by some definitions, but still very early in their growth. If you want mature products & business processes, be prepared to pay 3x as much & get half the capability. Or be a little patient & let Prusa grow into their running shoes.
Whatever you find to do with your hands, do with all your might!

If you can't handle other peoples opinions, stop reading the forum! Really, these problems are easily solved 🙂
I understand people like to blow off steam, but nothing productive will result.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
Part of the attraction to a 3D printer is that it can print itself. Why would you use injection molding? Most of us can’t reproduce that.
Growing pains are normal. We just have to live with it or select a different company.

opinions - sure...but when criticism or trying to understand leads to immediate dismissal, jokes, implying someone's ignorant or whining, there's nothing productive either.
at least the critic opinions may be read by the company later. they're not going to get anything out of "fuk you stop complaining"

@charles-h13
most parts can be both printed and molded. still have to CAD it. can be faster production times when you're at a bigger scale (like say when you realize a part was bad and you have to re-create 100s or 1000s of parts). at volume it can come out cheaper (all depends). and 100% infill w/o question.

Nobody Said "fuk you stop complaining"
Point ist: we're all in the same boat. I also have to wait at least two more months. But i get that it is part of the process. And most other people seem to get it, too. Yelling "we're being lied to" isn't constructive critizism, is it? It is mere venting frustrations.
As it was already said a few Times: If you don't trust the company, cancel the order. Same goes for every toxic relationship.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
I've never seen a group of people that so adamantly protect defective and poorly released/developed products. Prusa owners and followers are very...... I don't know the proper word. Cult isn't even the right term. You're definitely an interesting bunch. That's for sure.

That's pretty much RepRap for you 🤣 Prusa just does it on slightly bigger scale than garage with 2 people.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@zlice
Two things about that:
1) Prusa is coming from the RepRap idea - so "printers printing printers" is part of his philosophy
2) Working with molds for the printer parts needs lead times (not to underestimate - 3 to 4 weeks on that area would be very quick) for engineering, manufacturing, and optimization of the mold. And you know - there are people having an issue with delayed shipping! 😉

verbatim, no. but like i said, telling the company you're not ok with it and want them to improve is at least something.

agree...interesting. it's like the michael jackson issue, where the little good he knew was still bad so he defended his dad. except it's a culture of false promised pre-orders, patching on release day, and incomplete games. how dare someone say my company is bad, they gave me product xyz. (ok i'm being a bit of a dick but it's strange to me)

Thank god people didn't try to protect the companies that released/shipped collapsing baby cribs. Or defend them when they said "oops, give us 20 more iterations, we'll get it right."
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@clemens-m
after you hit the higher end printers ($2k+ range) it can start to be beneficial to mold instead of print. molder can take up a fraction of the space per speed, power and time of an army of 3d printers. not sure how the math works out when you're creating the printers, it's a numbers game for sure. i don't see a reason you couldn't mold a corner bracket and print a replacement as well. though some may be mad they had a better quality part than their replacement.

Not in those words no, but that's the spirit of what several people here have posted.

I am being patient. But in my book, that does not equal pretending like everything is perfect.

I completely disagree. My whole point has been if you feel that strongly, you should cancel your order and send a message. Complaining on the forum is not an effective means to send a message. The forums are not controlled or users as a thermometer by Prusa employees.

Coming from the guy that bitched the entire mk3 release... shall we go back and find your posts during that time?

Even large and well-established companies hit unexpected problems when their product gets out into the wild. The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 for example went through several hardware iterations before they stopped being susceptible to the Red Ring of Death and Yellow Light of Death respectively and their manufacturers were much less open than Prusa have been about problems with their products.
