RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

@pingu

On the Ali mobile page (m.ali...) is a filter when you searched for something in the top right corner.

There is a setting called "ships from" (if you use the global site)

so you can set the country to a eu one and have a look if it's somewhere available in EU.

It’s better to give than to receive. Especially advice.

 I'm sure that Visa would be very interested to know that transactions are happening without goods being rendered.

Prusa made it clear from the start that there will be delays.  Visa will not do anything if you complain.  You would get your printer so you are not being ripped off.

Except that it is clearly stated in the Visa guidelines that taking payment for goods that can't be rendered within 30 days is in fact grounds for chargeback. I urge you to actually read what I posted.

As a business owner, I'd blacklist anybody trying such shady tricks. Prusa has been upfront about the delays, if frustrating. Threatening them with false allegations in an attempt to coerce being bumped up the list should be grounds for going on the "do not sell to" list. (Lots of pushy people fail to realize many hotels maintain DNR lists, and that the desk agent can put them on it.)

As a business owner, and a US consumer (see I can do this too 🙄), good luck with that. Blacklisting customers for adhering to federal regulations will find you quickly out of business (if you are a US based company). Please enlighten me to anywhere I mentioned anything that could be construed as "false allegations". There is nothing shady about sharing readily available information posted by the FTC and Visa that directly pertains to this situation.

What you fail to understand here is that Prusa has manipulated the term "preorder". Preorders are not meant to raise capital (à la kickstarter). They are meant to 'secure-for-purchase' existing stock that is ready for shipment. The second that Prusa sold more units than they could ship on day 1, then these goods needed to be reclassed as "backorder" with payments suspended until they were within 30 days of shipment. It's not rocket science.

If you think Prusa has not played right, the answer is clear.

Cancel your order and buy a printer somewhere else. It's not rocket science. 😉

Yours is listed as pre-order? It may had been pre-order for people within first 6-7 hours of announcement, but my order from 13th was listed as "on backorder" since the beginning. I do not know about CC payment, was money already taken or is it reserved?

BTW they are not raising capital with MINI.

@bobcousins

I think they need to be upfront if they are using pre-orders to raise capital, instead of making it seems as though they already have units. If you were following along you'd know that I already have 😥

To get up in arms over this in my opinion is a lesson in futility. It won’t let you get your printer sooner, and it won’t change how Prusa does business. Personally I’m fine waiting multiple months for a quality product.

Can they do more on the communication side? Absolutely. But frankly, that’s only going to satisfy my unhealthy need of wanting to know everything, and knowing when the printer will come will not change when I actually get it.

Sorry friend, I get the frustration, but if you feel that strongly, you may not even like the printer when it gets here from all the bad juju you’ve got in your heart about the company haha.

Maybe check out a Creality? Ender 3s are great machines for the price.

In my experience, people perceive written emotions that don't exist. I want to be clear that I'm not upset or angry about any of this. It is what it is, and I should have known better. I went through this with the mk2 when it launched. This time I had hopes that they had done their due diligence and actually had product to ship in a reasonable time, clearly that is not the case.

The prusa shop page still says "PRE-ORDER! Production started at the end of November 2019, shipping limited amounts from the initial weekend (mid-October 2019), most orders to be shipped in January - April 2020. New orders in April/May 2020!"

They seem to have confused the difference between "pre-order" and "backorder", which was my whole entire point.

I get that you're bummed out, but you rarely see anyone throwing around accusations in here. We're talking about a medium-sized company that managed to hit the jackpot with that little machine. I guess they are trying their best and we can't expect more than that from anyone. Everyone is free to cancel their order, nobody is forced to endure this waiting process. But please don't throw around hidden threats in regard to credit card card companies or US-legislation. That's childish.

Seems like they started shipping again. There were 118 shipped a few hours again, 121 right now.

I presume production was paused also, and is now resumed - fingers crossed 😀

I am not throwing around any accusations or "hidden threats" as you put it. I have clearly and concisely stated my issue with their business practice, and simply pointed out (to their chat team first mind you) that they should probably have their legal team review the FTC and Visa rules to make sure they don't get into trouble in the future. I don't like their business practice, I've said that. I was actually very impressed with the mk2 I had. They make a great product.

Nobody is obliged to do business with you, and any company located outside the US is certainly not subject to your interpretation of the law. You threatened to file complaints with your credit card alleging deceptive practices, when Prusa has been up front all along. If you're not happy, cancel. That's fine. Don't go attempting to damage a company because you're not getting instant gratification.

What you fail to understand here is that Prusa has manipulated the term "preorder". Preorders are not meant to raise capital (à la kickstarter). Plenty of much larger companies charge consumers for the privilege of going on a waiting list. Prusa is doing what they can and have been completely up front about it. They have been disappointing, sure, but they're overwhelmed.

Some customers are simply not worth the hassle.

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

Hello to all you waiting. I placed my order od the 24th of December, so I have a long time to wait. I use that time to prepare for for printer (first printer). As I know I can't be at at  printer all the time it prints, I try to find a way how to secure it against disaster events. Such as print failure and and fire. I bought IP cam to be able to watch it from outside of home, then remote controlled socket to be able to turn it iff in case of a failure. Then I'll create auto-off socket connected to a smoke detector and I plan to buy FirePro FP-20 which I l'll connect to a smoke detector. I plan pl create a 50x50x50cm box from drywall panels in a rack in my storage room. What do you think? Could you correct my plans please? I try my best, but I have no experience with 3D printers yet.

I have come here to chew bubblegum and perfect my MINI ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

Actually you have confused "pre-order" and "order", they are not the same, "pre-order" is the same as "backorder".

I think we're basically into trolling now though.
