RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
I can only think of one business that has a successful business model selling kits to consumers in a mainstream market.
Scale models, mechanical keyboards and 3D printing are not exactly mainstream, so that leaves IKEA as an example.

Ikea does “kits” to reduce shipping costs.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
I decided to go ahead and cancel my mini order (placed oct 14) and informed the chat person that they should have their legal team review the FTC 16 CFR Part 435 rule Rule on Mail, Internet, or Telephone Orders. As they are clearly in violation. It is absolutely unacceptable that a refund also takes 14 days.
You do know that only applies to US based businesses, right?

@patrick-r
Sweet. I moved up a place in line 😀

You should to a legal expert before you go off half cocked.

That's the spirit. 😀

Those mail order meals technically come as kits, and they're getting pretty mainstream. 🙂
Also lol @ telling them to review that US law. Even if it was a US company, they wouldn't care about it unless you sent them a lawsuit from your lawyer citing it. But I get it, sometimes it just feels good to make idle insinuation of threats.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
at the moment, i regret the buy of the prusa mini. konstant issues, at the moment the first layer is not possible to get fine. yes, i know. maybe broken minda cable. maybe not. actually it looks like the bed is way higher in the middle than on the outer sides. massive.
maybe the improvements of the firmware will be a gamechanger, but im still very disapointed. they werent able to ship the first day orders as promissed, indeed they started more than 4 weeks later.
they wrote there should be about weekley a firmware update for the mini, well, we had only one hotfix. okay, winter hollidays. well, in some years i had to work in winter holidays, too, to guarantee customer satisfaction. they shipped the minis until now with major missing selling arguements like ethernet, basic menu diagnostic tools like on mk3s belt status, sensor status...
if i consider the money for the mini, at the moment, i would prefer to order an mk3s trianglelab clone from ali express for the same money. even with bear frame it its the same price as the mini, and the mk3s IS a proven workhorse machine.
as i do not prefer to print via sd or usb stick, i would use the mini via usb conection, pi and octoprint. just as i use my mk3. so no benefit from fancy new board, display, 32 bit at the moment. right now, via octoprint i have more oportunities on the old 8 bit mk3s than on the mini
we will see in wich way it will change during comming firmware updates
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
You make some valid points, however Octoprint can be used with the Mini now, FYI.

@pingu
if your bed is that bent, won't they just replace it? have you contacted cs?
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
thats the point. it worked more or less fine in the beginning, no major first layer issues, but never perfect. now its nearly impossible.
i haden't had time to chat with the support guys in the evenings. first i have to figure out whats causing the problem.
@texy: yes, octoprint ist usable with the mini. and because of that i see no benefit right now when you look at the new 32 bit board with grapic display versus the 8 bit architecture on the old mk3s. maybe i will rate it different in a few months, when there is a usable version of the prusa farm software etc. right now it looks either the hardware has not enough power and resources for the web interface or its very bugged. we will see.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@pingu
If I clone - I would prefer Fysetc - They ship it with "OEM" Boards and have an overall nice build quality. Have often heard about complains about Trianglelab. Also made some bad experiences with their customer support and refunding issues. No problems so far with Fysetc. (neither with quality issues nor with bad communication.) Thats the reason I'll do exactly that to bridge the time until my mini reaches my door.
Itâs better to give than to receive. Especially advice.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
that's sadly the risk you take as an early adopter...the product gets better with every problem you guys encounter. I'm thankful because I ordered in november, so there's still some time to remedy these problems. I hope, yours get solved soon!

You should to a legal expert before you go off half cocked.
He would need to file with http://econsumer.gov to file a complaint about an international company from the US.
Please note, that while they do work with the FTC, they are NOT the FTC. They are the International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network (ICPEN)
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
Has anyone received any shipping notices since the New Year?
I'm just wondering if they had started shipping again or not.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@scott-r20
Good luck with that submission.
No ship dates yet in the New Year. I am in the next 100 or so. About 3-5 shipped out of order before mine.
Chat said it should ship this week.

I think there is a miscommunication going on...
I have no desire to file any complaints, and content with waiting (although I would like to see orders shipping again!)
My comments above were to patrick-r who mentioned the Federal Trade Commission.

"mk3s trianglelab clone from ali express for the same money" I feel for you, you're cross, you've spent a lot of money and you have a non working printer. Nevertheless the prices on AliExpress (E332 + E115 + E65) does not support you're statement. Maybe better to go for Ender3 + SKR + BL Touch.
"right now it looks either the hardware has not enough power and resources for the web interface or its very bugged. we will see." Again I understand that you are cross but that statement is not supportable.
Although I've haven't bought anything from Prusa yet, they seem like a pretty decent outfit, I suspect you could get your money back if you tried.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
I was just told by chat that it would be 2 more weeks for my order placed October 14th. order #43299
yes, this is what i was talking about. how are they going to tell me (15th order) i'll get it by end of month but 14th wont ship for 2 more weeks?
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
This business practice of "crowdfunding capital" is ridiculous. Either you have a product or you don't. Does no one remember the Paypal incident with the mk2 rollout back in 2016? One would reasonably assume that they might have learned their lesson when it comes to collecting payment FAR before ever having product produced. Apparently that is not the case. The funny thing to me is that not only are they in non-compliance with FTC rules, but also VISA rules as well. Have a look at Condition 13.1 I'll go ahead and drop the relevant section below. I'm sure that Visa would be very interested to know that transactions are happening without goods being rendered.
Why did I get this notification?
The cardholder claims that merchandise or services that they ordered were not received or that the
cardholder cancelled the order as the result of not receiving the merchandise or services by the expected
delivery date (or merchandise was unavailable for pick-up).
What caused the dispute?
There are several common causes for this type of dispute:
• You did not provide the services.
• You did not send the merchandise by the agreed-upon delivery date, time or to the agreed upon
location.
• You billed for the transaction before shipping the merchandise.
• You did not make merchandise available for pick-up.
