No, are you taunting me!?!? 😉
I'm concerned that the 13th orders are going to be the cutoff for the 'surge' at the start and the rest of us are going to get ours in dibs and drabs.
I have some filament samples I really want to play with and I want to keep my MK3S/MMU set up as it is. Plus, I was thinking that I could get it dialed in and work with my kids science teachers on some projects. Being on vacation over the holidays helps with all that.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
I'm willing to become a supply chain investor if I'm going to be on the front of the line. If I'm going to be in the back of the line, I'll wait until supply and demand even out and I'm not floating them cash.
Huh? ...what do you mean by becoming supply chain investor? If they ever want an external investor (which they are proud of not taking any VC money into their company) I am not sure public forum is the right place to discuss business opportunities 🙂
BTW you mention receiving snail-mail notifications - do they send old-fashioned paper bulletins to people's physical mailboxes? 😮 I thought they are all online, sending physical flyers does not sound like them.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@crawlerin
You pay when you order, so in effect early orders are 'supply chain investors'. I'm willing to do that to be at the front of the queue and get it over the holidays. A month later, meh.
For some reason, I seem to have gotten my notification later than a lot of people, I must have slow email. 😉

Nope. Just trying to determine if I need to contact support again.

Ahh I see, for some reson I thought you may be venture capitalist or something 😀
I caught discussion about Josef's mysterious tweet on Friday, therefore was paying closer attention to ERRF. My e-mail came later too, after I already knew what it was, I was just hesitating whether to order until next day.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
I've always held the belief that Prusa was the leader in the industry. I am wrong and terribly disappointed. Holding my money for months with zero communication is totally unacceptable. I would have guessed there would be at least a daily blog post with the backorder numbers and a brief statement about progress or lack of progress. A weekly YouTube video showing what's going on in house would go a long way.
If you can't deliver printers, at least communicate!

I hear this a lot. If it bothers people this much, they should look elsewhere to get their instant gratification or frustration. In my experience, the other 3d printer purchases have led to huge disappointment.

I must agree. The reason that these printers are of such great quality is because of the time it takes to prepare all the parts. All of the electronic parts are tested individually to make sure they will give the best performance possible. And doing that for thousands of orders takes months. They're probably still swamped months after the original release date.

Exactly. From what I've observed, it was pretty clear that only the first batch had any chance of making it out by Christmas. This is actually an improvement for Prusa, and while not ideal, I don't think anybody who ordered later should really be surprised at this point. Paying up front to be in the queue for high-demand items is hardly unique to 3D printers. Don't want to "invest" well don't expect any return. If you've got better options, go that way. Otherwise, welcome to the queue.

Indeed not, how much do you have to put up front to secure the latest Tesla?
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@towlerg
Poor example. I would guess the Tesla is more of a niche than 3D printing.

The problem is that I thought that I was in the first group. I ordered with in 6 hours of getting the email. I literally opened the email, read it, and ordered it. That the email notification was 3 days after other notification wasn't clear at at all. For the next three months I thought I was near the front of the queue. Then the spreadsheet drops and I'm like WTF. As far as I can tell, there was no info before that about what the line looked like.
The Original Prusa MINI started production at the end of November and shipping started in December - only backlog of orders from the first announcement day - October 12th, 2019. Now we continue with the rest of orders from the initial weekend (12th and 13th October, 2019 orders).
So who is the bonehead at Prusa who didn't think of sending out emails about until 4th day???
It is about managing expectations- and Prusa did a HORRIBLE job at it. Starting with asymmetrical information flows, then radio silence for two months. That post above could have been written in late OCT.
It seems like Prusa wants to shed its hobbyist persona and play with the big guys as a real company. This isn't the way to do it.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@milehigh3der
I Have no idea how you did not know. The announcement was all over this forum within seconds. I am one of the first 100 of so on the 13th. I see orders shipping all around mine. I am not happy but accept and understand the business model.
If it Bothers folks that much, cancel your order send Prusa a message. If not, you have to accept the business model. Their model is well documented on the internet.

Did they ship even a single order in the last 10 days? 42205 seems to be the last one since x-mas.
I'm wondering if they're looking into the various issues before shipping resumes…
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@weak
No reports. They may have shipped a few out of order, but they are still shipping in the 41xxx range.
