RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
Buried in the bowels of the firmware is a stack processor that handles interrupts. It is broken, and the code running around the filament sensor is some of the worst of it -- qualified with: as far as I know -- it's pretty bad, but other parts of Prusa's mods to the Marlin base could be just as bad or worse. Whoever did the coding was totally unprepared for the task and did things even a novice should known better and not done.

Do you have inside knowledge or conjecture?

Josef has said the board isn't suitable for the MK3. It's not designed to handle the power requirements of the larger printer. Perhaps the schematics will reveal that it could technically handle the MK3, but I'm not sure what you gain. Check the video around the 15 minute mark.

@charles-h13
That’s not bad at all. Few videos on YouTube show guys building it between 10 and 12 hours. Lol
i wasn’t going to cancel my order for the mini but when they told me December then changed it to possibly March I couldn’t wait. Had the extra funds available and they refunded and ordered the mk3s. Ordered yesterday. Shipped today. Already on the truck with a Delivery date of Tuesday.
🙂
Well it's Tuesday. My new Prusa MK3S arrived. 🙂
So far so good. Started the build at about 7pm EST. Ate my whole bag of Haribo and just finished the Y-Axis. I'll start the X-axis tomorrow.g
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
Jealous! I ordered on Sunday but I did a "combined order" with some extra Prusament and an 0.25mm nozzle, so I'm still waiting for it to ship. Then it'll be another 5-6 days or so for it to make it's way to Australia and through our Customs process. Still, I would assume I'll have it by Christmas for sure.
Anyway, that's getting off-topic for this "wait thread".

Yup - that would be an MK3S wait thread.

Where there's a will, there's a way.
The trinamic drivers will definitely handle the existing motors as the new trinamics are capable of 2A whereas the original drivers barely coped with 1A.
The Z axis just requires a splitter cable which on the MK3 is incorporated in the board. (Parallel connections to one trinamic chip).
Output FET's, OK, these could be lower power rated, but I highly doubt it, but you never know.
Power input, granted the brick PSU input is not going to cut it, but in the picture there are spade terminal connections right behind the input socket, and spade terminals can handle 30A at 12v or 15A at 24v, so is capable of having a 350w 24v psu connected. It is possible that these are not for Power, but again, unlikely.
I'll have a better idea if it is feasible to use the new board, once they start appearing in the wild.
Normal people believe that if it ainât broke, donât fix it. Engineers believe that if it ainât broke, it doesnât have enough features yet.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
This does not give me so much confidence, seems like more delays are coming up.
Now:
A buffer of orders from the announcement day only is too large - those are the orders to be shipped still in 2019 and early January 2020.
Josef a week ago:
We aim to ship the orders from the first day before the years end.
Blog:
We estimate the first batch of MINIs should start shipping on December 9th. The first batch is actually several hundred printers, not just a couple of units, so we won’t be able to send them within one day, of course. We aim to ship orders made during the first 24 hours after the announcement before the winter holidays.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
it isnt the point of the elay itselfe. the thing that fucks me up is the communication. they choose the farest way possible to inform first of all new coustomers. no infos on twitter, blog, forum. just the shop site gets slightly modified.
they should know on the first anouncement weekend that there is not enough capacity, said a month nothing, and now they admit the delays.
that isnt the nice way of communication...

@dennis-s12
Bad news. I am on the second day. I still hope it ships in early January. I would not have used it much in December.

On the positive side, all of us who are not on first day will have at least a month or so to see the actual reviews of the first units and decide if we need to cancel the order or stick with it.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
I'm still hopeful of seeing mine before Christmas as I ordered within 30 minutes or so of the announcement on the 12th. I feel for anyone later than the first day though. This is the usual Prusa modus operandi I'm afraid and I still believe these new product releases could be handled better and customers who have paid and are waiting could be better informed of any delays.
I don't blame Josef for this. I am sure the statements he made on deliveries were made in good faith at the time and we all know things can go wrong especially with a new product. I do wonder if the Prusa production manager(s) are overly optimistic when advising Josef though and I absolutely agree that communication of delays could be handled much better.
Disappointing to say the least. I should have learned by now I guess.

Good point. It will give me time to allow folks to make a raspberry pi case that houses the pi and controller board for the printer.

I would be shocked if you don't. I still think anyone who ordered in the first 24 hours of the business day will see a printer before or just after the holidays.

Whilst this is a valid option, making a decision on first day opinions may be subject to inexperienced user problems rather than actual inherrent issues with the product!it might be worthwhile sleeping on the thoughts for a short while, then confirming the situation if problems continue.

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
I’m a first day order. I spoke to a representative on the chat last night. The rep said since that I made the purchase on launch weekend, I would receive it at the beginning of January. That is my current expectation because it’s realistic. I can only imagine when Prusa begins their CoreXY preorders. That’s going to test everyone’s patience.

I know it’s off topic lol just an update to my mini wait post.

I hope your right 😉
Respect the fact everyone is entitled to have an opinion, you dont have to like it or hate it, just accept its theirs and not yours and you will be ok!

First day meaning in the first 24h from announcement or on 12th?
