RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

My Mini finally arrived today 😍 I received the shipping notification on the 23th of April, so it took Packeta/Post Nord 13 days to get the printer to Finland. Just to give people heads up that the shipping might take a while in the current world situation. 😷

My Mini arrived today.

Unboxing, assembling, printing, printing, printing. 😊 😊 😊

Everything works as expected so far.

The first benchy looks really nice. No extrusion failures, no stringing, nothing to complain, just perfect.

(spreadsheet is updated)

Mine was shipped today! I ordered on January 2nd, without the Filament sensor.

Seems like the sensor is the bottleneg again….

I am not sure why the sensor is in such short supply.  Demand?

Should add to my above post:

I cancelled the filament sensor last week, received store cred voucher email May 4, 2020. Ship email today.  Unknown delivery date, but still.

Any prints anyone suggests I should do on my other two non-prusa printers before she arrives?

@dronitoni

What was your order date?

im super happy that we are seeing more and more comments on delivery and shipping it’s great news - mixed with a hint of disappointment that there’s now two orders shipped in front of mine

This forum gives me something to check every couple of hours though it’s like a surprise party

With the shipment email, I checked the tracking number. Fed ex etc. but.... it said electronic info sent to fedex as the progress... (expected something like that), but I did not expect it to say “expected delivery Thursday by 10:30 am”.... even pre-corona... Wednesday shipment (let’s just say there’s some lag between actual and what info I have) and expected delivery by next day, 5 time zones away, in early ish morning.... I have hope, but that seems laughable. So, my gf and I are betting me beer and her ice cream (she doesn’t drink)

@charles-h13

There were some forum discussions about it and how to test it. Probably, they found a problem there and had to re-order some parts.

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

I wanted to report back on my new Prusa Mini.

It is printing fine NOW, but out of the box it had significant issues, all assembly QC related.  Waiting for months for delivery was difficult, but don't let the desire to make that initial print override the necessity of checking everything.  It seems that Prusa's desire to push product out the door (possibly using new and hastily trained employees) has caused their CQ to slip.

On my machine - ordered 25 Nov 2019 and delivered 24 Apr 2020 - the heater block was twice the distance from the heat sink as shown in the Pursa photos.  The MINDA probe was too high such that if I had not adjusted it with an old credit card before running the Setup Wizard it would have jammed the nozzle into the bed.  The idler adjustment screw was way below the "even with the housing when the filament is removed" as per the database.  And the new firmware on the included USB stick was corrupted.  While it would load, when I attempted to run a gcode file the extruder would do strange things.

These were all easily adjusted, but until they were, they created multiple issues when trying to get the first layer set correctly, let alone make a reasonable print.  I'm a relative newbee to 3D printing and if I had not been reading this and the other problem related threads, I would have been lost and very disappointed in what is being marketed as a "print farm quality printer".

Again, check everything mechanical before you even turn on the power.

@vazovsky

Unfortunate, but not too unexpected.  Out 8000 shipped, we have seen very few problems.  I have 15 printers now and the 16th is on the way.  I have had one issue from a Prusa and 2 from Creality.  Pretty good success.  I have 3 Creality, 2 Anycubic and 10 Prusas.  9 fo 10 is pretty good.  1/3 is not.
