RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!

I see no link, from a forum listing page, that takes me to the "first unread post" in a thread. This is a fundamental requirement in forums!

It's slightly hidden at the bottom.

Guys, just keep in mind that checking for reported issues, development, QA tests before launch any fixes/updates takes time!

I'm pretty sure PR is reading all the complains and trying their best to make improvements. But it takes time. This thread is only 48 hours old. Means most likely only one work day has passed. Complains about no response/resolution to the raised points is way too early.

Are they? How would we know if they aren't saying anything?

I'm not asking for them to give us details, just a "we hear you and are looking at it" type message is enough to start off with.

I agree that 2 business days is low to expect many of these issues to be addressed (especially if the underlying software doesn't support it).

That was already pointed out.

A) it is not responding to the thread THEY created.

B) it only addresses items from the other thread, not this one.

My stats updated to show me as a "noble member", but I'm bummed to see that the 41 accepted answered questions aren't shown in my updated profile. Has anybody else lost such credits?

It would be good if the profile array of threads , answers, likes etc were clickable to take you to them

RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!

Bob - not only did we lose the "answer" stat: it was pretty meaningless, since most of the times answers were provided no one bothered to mark the right answer; but we also lost most of the images in our posts if we used same file names.

I relied on using Windows Snipping Tool to grab examples to post; those snips were all named the default capture.jpg, and in the transfer, whatever Prusa did failed miserably and many hundreds of my posts now share the same inane image of my very first post. I have zero plans to go back and update the images; hopefully those posts will be lost in posterity because looking back at a few I look quite stupid posting the same image over and over again.

Since I do not use any external storage like Drive or DropBox, and I won't be storing help images on my own external servers, seems I won't be posting images here.  And without images, help like I have been offering is pretty useless.

One of the features I liked about the old forum was the fact posted images were retained in context; not linked to someplace where they could disappear a few days later when the poster closed a temp account elsewhere.  Seems a shame, but now all that knowledge is lost.

And that stupid P keeps getting in my way - why the heck is it inside the text box?

They do ... but how can anyone remember the topic when all we get to see is the first words of our post.

Another "made for the masses app" that is useless for this purpose.  One of the reasons Prusa stated for this "change" was to reduce effort to support the forum backend.  Well, my guess is those guys will beg for the old forum when they figure out how much support they'll need to provide to users now they've made it hard for other users to actually help peer to peer; or, then again, maybe Prusa will just ignore them.

They said they fixed the email addresses being exposed.  So I copied a few email addresses that were posted in open text while I was online reading Prusa's "we fixed the email leak post" ... These guys apparently have no clue how vulnerable Wordpress is, nor the size of the target on it's corporate back as a hackers paradise. And they thought the php forum was time consuming. LMAO!

Hello there!

I made a short tour of Prusaprinter.org and I like it : Thanks for this !

2 comments:

1/ My email adress apprears in the list of user currently viewing this topics. There is a thread on this... just a reminder ;o)

2/ while exploring prints, it would be great to have a button  like "wish list", to save the most relevant ideas for a deeper study later.

Have a nice day,

Additional information about email  displayed as "Public name".

I first checked that there was no mistake in my profile info, (Like …stupidly entering an email as Public name ;o)))

Back to the forum, I could fix this  by editing my account in the forum (It looks like different public name can be used).

To do so:

Clic on the name below "my picture", then "account", then rename "Public name".

To IT guys : It would be nice to use by default the Public name mentionned in PrusaPrinter profile.

Best regards

Are the topics that have new posts supposed to be in bold print?  I thought I saw that yesterday but now no topics are like this.

So since I have forgotten my password I was unable to enter my account here for awhile.

The "reset password" thing tells you you have been sent an email to reset but it doesn't send anything.

Only now somehow I managed to enter into my account.

Not sure how tho...

Can you replace the “Recent Posts” with “Unread Posts” on the back bar?  Or add “Unread Posts”?  It is a much more useful search.

If you are like me, you missed the explanation on the forum's home page (which few people would go to as it's where all the different languages are listed). You have to register again with your email address (and a, possibly new, password.) The forum then matches you to the user with the same email in the old forum. (This is a security nightmare, though, as anyone can sign up using the email from an old forum user's account, if they know it.)

I've been participating in and/or running online forums since the mid-1970s. I thought I had seen some terrible implementations, but this one is far worse than any.

'Unread posts' seems broken. Items I've read still show up in the list despite there being no new messages since my last read.

That's cause they're still unread.  Yesterday, in bumbling around the new forum, I found the "mark all read" icon down at the bottom of the page.  Today, I can't find it at all.  At least I figured out how to get the unread list....

The lower banner in Wordpress  - I believe - is a major security hole and why it is gone now, at least until Prusa figure out how to plug the leaks.

Regarding read vs unread posts; there are dozens of new posts since I marked "All forums read" while logged in yesterday.  This morning after logging in all forums are still all read.  Curiously, even viewing the forum as a guest shows everything as read.  So I think Prusa is 'adjusting' that feature, too.

But isn't the white space pretty ... maybe I need to change colors to one of the pastel rose tones to make the forum work better.
