I love how the profile settings as a field for "AOL IM" and "IPQ" but no field for Jabber(XMPP) which I think a lot of developer and maker use 😀 at least in my experience.

Issue with signatures. Seems it is possible to encode html in a signature that starts something - but gets truncated if the sig is greater than N characters - thus the field is never closed. Seems like a good place to start investigating 0 day attacks... lol.

Honestly, is there any reason for an Edit time-out? In the old phpBB forum, Jakub would edit the topmost post of a topic where he announced some new feature, so the topmost post was kept up to date with software revisions, etc. These edits could be done days or weeks after the original posting. This is a really nice feature to have, so people don't have to scroll down through pages and pages of posts to find out whether or not they have all the latest info.
I'm an Admin on another phpBB forum, and no one has ever asked for there to be an Edit time-out.

Also, account hacking and spambots; good luck cleaning up that mess if they can edit spam links into every one of your posts...

I've also seen cases where someone in an argument that clearly didn't know what they were talking about went back and edited their posts after responses had been posted in an effort to not look so wrong and antagonistic.
Generally I'm of the opinion that you shouldn't be able to change history and you just need to own what you posted, but I get that sometimes mistakes are made and fixing the post isn't an attempt to alter the past. It's also useful for a thread about ongoing work to be able to put the latest updates in the first post rather than people having to search through the whole thread and hope they caught all the key points.
It's a gray area so I usually come down on the side of allowing edits to happen and then dealing with it when abuse comes up. The majority of forums I've been involved in have, thankfully, been grown up enough to be able to handle the power responsibly.

I'm not saying that anyone should be able to edit posts! Only the person who made the post - and maybe top level forum admins; nobody else.
My observation on this forum and the Printrbottalk forum where I'm an admin is that there's very little flaming & hissy fits going on. The people on these forums genuinely want to help. And sometimes people discover information relevant to their post hours or days after they made it; it's really a lot easier for readers to look at one post with an EDIT or two in it than search through a pile of posts.
And let's say hypothetically that I create a very detailed post with explicit instructions about some particular task. Days later someone points out to me that a single point in the post is incorrect or poorly stated. Wouldn't it be better to go back and edit that original post than to create one small post much further down the line correcting the problem? Or am I supposed to quote the entire original so that I can make the minor correction? That uses up a lot of space needlessly, and still leaves the possibility that a reader who lands on the first post might think it's the final answer without scrolling endlessly to see if there's an update.

Neither was I. I was pointing out that if *your* account gets hacked and a spambot can edit links into *your* entire post history, it's a fun mess to clean up.
I'm also not defending the decision here. You were asking why someone would want an edit restriction, and I offered two good explanations as to why they might be imposed by forum operators.

Seems like there might be a sync issue between backend servers. I keep getting email notices that someone has posted to a thread I'm watching, but sometimes when I follow the link the post isn't there. This has been going on since subscription notifications where added, but it seems to have gotten much worse in the last week (like every 3rd or 4th reply I check!).
Originally I chalked it up to posts getting deleted, but with the higher frequency this week I have seen the posts finally show up later (sometimes as much as an hour).
In one case today for a thread I am involved in I responded to a message and after posting my message I noticed a notification for another response in the thread. I went back to look at it wasn't there. About 10 minutes later it finally showed up for me and it was inserted before my post.
I have also noticed finding new threads in places I know have checked since they were created. I've chalked it up to not paying attention as well as I think, but now I suspect it is related to this "post delay" I am seeing.
I'm guessing that the site is load balanced and it seems that there is a sync delay between some/all nodes.

Ditto -- very disconcerting to have a post showup in the thread before mine - yet pretty sure my post was "first" ... I've even seen some oddities with time stamps. I post at 5:42 pm and see the timestamp as 7:37 pm (not something timezones would explain).

And I'm going to tap my PLEASE SET DEFAULT IMAGE INSERT MODE TO LINK TO [MEDIA FILE] so we don't have to play games changing URL's to see the original image resolution. Users just aren't getting that they need to change post settings. It is a royal pain in the keester.

Most likely the email server you're using is rejecting this emails or it's going to junk folder. I've mentioned that issue already earlier in this thread. The current outgoing (forum) email server is not sending FQDN in the HELO command. Most email servers are rejecting such a mails because it's a big indicator for spam. I had to adjust/configure mine to receive this emails that's how I know the forum actually is sending an email out.
Edit : Your email is being used from your global account. You don't see it in the forum section and need to go to the global section

No - I own my email server, it isn't having problems, I'd be notified if it kicked back a message. My Prusa store profile has an email account, so I presume that is what the forum would use. Otherwise the there is no other email associated with the forums.
And I have NOT received any email from this exchange... and I am subscribed to this thread.

Actually, last email from Prusa was 04/2019 ... and that was a conversation regarding spam coming in from the new forum. I made a request to have the Prusa forum server stop spamming me ... lol ... maybe they actually killed the link for me.

I just can describe what kind of effort I had to put in place to make it work for me. Both postfix and spamassassin required an adjustment in my case because of that issue.
