Switching between print bed sheets
I started off printing PLA on the smooth sheet, but did some PETG printing last on the textured sheet. I did have to readjust the Z offset accordingly. It was then I realized how much I like that the current MK3S firmware allows me to have separate settings for different sheets. I wrote down my smooth sheet offset (how quaint!) before tuning for the powder-coated sheet.
I hope that an update for the Mini firmware that includes supporting multiple sheets comes soon.
That said, the printer was a little reluctant to heat the bed up to 85° for PETG, throwing a "thermal runaway" exception at around 75°. I power-cycled the printer and restarted the preheating. With it being closer to 85°, it did get there that time. I may just print PLA only for a while.
RE: Switching between print bed sheets
Totally agree, nearly all sold Minis has both sheets and it would be great if the z-offset was stored in the firmware - just space for two settings should be enough. I have my offsets written down too 🙂
Thermal runaway is reported on GitHub:
Thermal Runaway Bed-error when placing steel sheet on heated bed #24
I had it a couple of times, when putting the build plate back on hot bed. The cool down from build plate was enough to trigger thermal runaway.
Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉
RE: Switching between print bed sheets
In my case, the textured sheet was already on the bed when I started preheating. It got the thermal runaway after several minutes of me not touching the printer.
RE: Switching between print bed sheets
Indeed it is a very useful feature of 3.8.1 on the mk3, hence why I am not downgrading to a previous version, even with the bugs in it currently.
I'm sure it'll be included by the time my Mini is shipped mid Feb.

mini uses the buddy board and all new 32 bit firmware
RE: Switching between print bed sheets
I too have the textured and smooth sheet, the differences were rather large in z-offset between the two. Would love to have the sheet "database" as on the MK3, certainly would make life easier. I've not encountered the thermal run-away error with either sheet at bed temps up to 85 for PETG.
Linen Sheets
Hi,
When I was searching for Linen Sheets on google. I found this informative discussion. Linen Sheets have become an incredibly popular choice for bedding thanks to their unique texture and casual look.

@andy-11
This feature is in firmware 4.3 release candidate which is downloadable from GitHub now ( https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-Buddy/releases/tag/v4.3.0-RC1 ). Usual caveats apply, it's a release candidate, not a full release, but there are lots of people using it with no major issues reported.
