I am not terribly impressed with: https://us.kodama3d.com/

I have tried about a 5 filaments now.  I like the aluminum PLA.  The Green, Hickory, and pearl white PLAs are too darn stringy.  I might try to tune them in in the future.  I am frustrated now and will just sit them in my dryer for a while.

Did you by any chance try their PETG Gold one? I have a lot of trouble printing with it, compared to Prusament PETC (Orange). The melted filament looks granular and it tends to have parts where it doesn't seem to have melted properly. If you managed to print fine with it, could you provide the temperatures? (I went with Extrudr website recommendations)

Are you referring to the Inca Gold from Extrudr?

I will 2nd Extrudr, Filamentum and add ColorFabb.

PETG from Extrudr has low required temps and is food safe (ish).  It seems to be less stringy them other PETG but I suspect it is on the weaker end of the PETG spectrum structurally. It is also recyclable (code 1)!

PLA from Filamentum - they have some amazing colors. I have used and loved "Wizard's Voodor" (multi-chromatic)_, "Veritgo Starlight"(dark blue w/ sparkles, and "Melon Yellow".

ColorFabb has some nice PLA/PHA that prints very well. Seems a little stronger less PLA(ish) but prints like PLA, maybe better.

Also I agree on ESUN PLA+ (recommended temp 205-225) , it just jams in the mini. However, keeping it over 230 and it works ok.  I went through a linear advance exercise at this new temp and then it performed quite well at 230.

Hi,
how do you print extrudr Biofusion Filament?
Nearly any of my prints is brittle, poor layer adhesion and many print failures.
extrudr sent me their MK3S Profile but still doesnt work. Except printing Tires for RC Cars or the Makerbot Atronaut.
But the Astronaut often looses his feet when removed from heatbed. Adhesion with the Bed is pretty strong.

esun pla+  I just tried printing with a roll, brand new, of black and it constantly and consistently clogged right from the start.  Swapped over to hatchbox orange and printed with zero problem.  Switched back to the esun, clog clog clog.

Hi everyone,

Aside from the previous post this is quite an old thread, however, as a new user that has only used Prusament so far I wonder if anyone based in the UK could advise on alternative brands of PLA and PETG they have successfully used?

Thanks

RE: Recommended PLA brands for the Mini

I've used a lot of different brands with success, it's rare I've had something so terrible I couldn't print nice things with it. I tend to buy them when they are discounted so very very rarely pay more than £15 per KG. Brands I've had success with...

Ziro
eSun
Sunlu
Overture
Eryone
AmazonBasics
Hatchbox
TopZeal
Sainsmart
Anycubic
Amolen

Brands I would avoid because I had terrible experiences (but this could be because they were heavily discounted because they were junk):
Eono
Comgrow

Hope that helps!

Does anyone know what to do when my filament wont go all the way through to the nozzle. I will go through the first little tube but won't come out of the other tube when it goes through the box thingy. I just got my prusa mini and am new to 3d printing, so i'm hoping someone will reply with help. 😊

RE: Loading filament for Mini and mini+

When feeding the filament through a filament sensor (the black box as you call it),

the display says to feed the filament up to the extruder motor.

So feed the filament until it can go no further.

Keep some pressure on the filament and press the button (on the display)

The filament is now pulled further in until it reaches the nozzle.

Then you see the filament flow out of the nozzle.

Then make a choice which you can select via the display to finish loading the filament.

And remember to make sure the end of the filament is cut nicely (cut off any melted blob) before you try feeding it in.

On topic - I tend to go for eSun when it's cheap.

RE: Recommended PLA brands for the Mini

I primarily print with and order my filament from https://addnorth.com/ .
I am based in Sweden so I usually get it delivered in 2-3 days from order at maximum.

I've tried their PLA, PETG and PETG carbon combo. All of these work great!
