Question regarding magnets in Motor visualizers... is it healty for the motors?
A month (or more ago) there was a contest in Printables about Motor Visualizers.
I noticed that most of them use small magnets to get attached to the motor shafts..
Question: Is this safe for the motor which uses electromagnetic technology for moving?
Thanks in advance.

RE:
They should not appreciably add any load to the stepper motor. Those steppers actually do have a bit of torque.
No, the small magnets will not interfere with the operation of the motor, where the electromagnetic fields will be more than strong enough to overcome any nearby stray fields.
RE:
Interesting question. As I am not an electrotechnics engineer I have no qualified answer. Experience tells me that the 8mm neodym magnet used for a visualizer on my MK3S extruder motor does not appear to have any influence (whether positive nor negative), which I would assume should be visible on the print result. Given that even Prusa seems to be using visualizers in their steampunk mod, I am not worried about my motors. Nevertheless I´ll be happy to learn from any engineer´s wisdom which may come up here.
Cheers

I try to give answers to the best of my ability, but I am not a 3D printing pro by any means, and anything you do you do at your own risk. BTW: I have no food for…
