RE: MINI enclosure? IKEA?
@lightwave
Any enclosure is better than none, but heat distribution is less efficient when having larger enclosure compared to printer.
RE: MINI enclosure? IKEA?
Lack table can take a smaller printer and still “heat up”.

RE: MINI enclosure? IKEA?
44cm^3 by my measurements without spool holder or psu.
that allows space for bed and cable movement. Also accounts for the usb and bowden stick out the side.
with that said i did not account for the space to remove the usb.
you could get it ~30mm smaller in the X if you do a 90 degree usb and route the bowden a certain way.
but really i like the 44cm cube and dont see the value of trying to squeeze 2-3cm on one axis.
RE: MINI enclosure? IKEA?
I want to revise that last. Its not letting me edit. 34cm in the x is about the tightest you can get the x axis. So 10cm could be significant, but it would be very tight.

Thanks for the measurements @phr0ze, highly appreciated.
I have a few questions though 🙂
I'm planning to use a server rack as enclosure (see picture below). The rack is 535 x 600 x 572 mm (WxDxH). I'm wondering if this would provide enough space for the printer and the spool holder and still be comfortable to work with (eg. loading/unloading filament, handling the sheet, etc.)? Also, would it be possible to place the spool holder outside of the enclosure (on the top) or is it preferable to have it next to the printer?
RE: MINI enclosure? IKEA?
"you could get it ~30mm smaller in the X if you do a 90 degree usb and route the bowden a certain way. " probably a good idea to use a USB extension to bring the usb slot outside the enclosure.

RE: MINI enclosure? IKEA?
i just stumbled upon another ikea model: Hällan.
measurements: width: 45cm
depth: 47cm
height: 75 cm.
it's made out of metal and costs about 50 euro. thinking about replacing the door with plexiglas.
RE: MINI enclosure? IKEA?
@strandedbandit
That should work. I much just not sure how much room the movement of the print bead will require.

Printbed Or Y needs 44cm
since you have the height i thing you could mount a spoolholder in the air on the right.

according to phr0ze, 44cm^3 should be enough to account for cables and the bed clearance. will wait until the printer has arrived before i buy anything tho 🙂

I wonder what the internal measurements of the Hällan are?

as it's metal, i guess, the walls won't be very thick. will have a look next time i come by an ikea.

What about this?
There are tons of builds with these components:
301.281.77 STUVA body
902.918.58 SINDVIK door
001.286.97 STUVA GRUNDLIG shelf
802.612.58 BESTÅ hinge
Mentioned in the user mods thread about enclosures. Looks nice and is way more stable and less wobbly than the lack one. Also used some brackets in the corners for stability on my lack enclosure.
Itâs better to give than to receive. Especially advice.

@padigree
It would be great but that appears to be a Europe only product.

RE: MINI enclosure? IKEA?
I've been to my local IKEA and also thought it a good fit. But still like the idea of converting a LACK table (because of the acrylic panels) When I (finally) receive my printer (and first Prusa) I would rather like everyone sees it. 😀
Mini with FW:4.4.1 + SuperPINDA + Bondtech Heatbreak + PC4-M8 couplers + 1 piece boden
RE: MINI enclosure? IKEA?
I orderd a prusa mini to replace my wanhao duplicator i3 mini.
When i Bought the wanhao i just placed it on my desk next to my screens. it worked but when is was printen my desk was vibrating and it is not the most silent printer. so i decided te buy an enclosure.
After some searching i found the IKEA MILSBO display cabinet where my printer fits i fine.
and if the measurements are correct it should just fit snug on the same spot.
i allready orderd a 90 degree usb cable in order to load the prints by usb.
RE: MINI enclosure? IKEA?
Seems to me that Prusa Research does not want the users to place the Mini in a Lack enclosure:
✅Leave at least 25 cm (1 ft.) around the printer

RE: MINI enclosure? IKEA?
I suspect that will change.
