MINI enclosure? IKEA?
Anyone considering what would be suitable for MINI enclosure (from IKEA?)
RE: MINI enclosure? IKEA?
It does not fit to Kallax shelf, one of the first things I checked LOL. Lack is still an option, so, I guess something between those two?
RE: MINI enclosure? IKEA?
Based on my measurements the MINI should fit inside the LACK enclosure, including having the spool holder inside (not sure if that's what you'd want for all filaments though due to the temperatures). That's raises an interesting point though, as far as I am aware the filament enters the extruder (that's the part with the gears, right?) at a 45º upward angle - how would the filament path look like if you were to place the filament above the printer?
Though after writing that, I had another look at the launch video, and this frame seems to show a PTFE tube leading into the extruder, so maybe feeding from above works fine (the tube before the extruder would curve upwards).

would be nice to know the exact measurements, cables, bed traveling space and all included to plan an enclosure while waiting for the mini. 🙂

I'm going to build a LACK enclosure for my MINI
But i cant do it before my MINI arrives because i need it to print the bits 😀

Shop page has an entry on that: "With a footprint of 38×33 cm (15×13 in), the MINI is an incredibly compact, yet fully equipped 3D printer, allowing you to stack several machines onto a single shelf." Height is not mentioned.

@crawlerin
i love the small footprint of this thing. would like to design an acrylic enclosure but i guess i'll have to wait until it's here to get exact measurements 🙂

LACK might be too big for single MINI

Very true, but it might be best for future expansion to a Mk3S, i am a newbie to 3d printing.
Also should be room to have the filament on its holder inside the enclosure ?

What about this one or this one? One of them is 40x40 cm which should be juuust right for Mini.
I've seen them too. But I prefer one with a door. Also, I don't know the max height of the printer (and you will need space for the bowden tube). Even if the height does fit, I assume it is hard to get the printer in and out so easy if you have such little space. So, 60x60x60 will maybe be the minimal size. Other plus points of the tent I chose are the embedded lights and the reflective walls. That should intensify the heat up.

Before I had time to print the parts for my LACK enclosure I used some relatively thick transparent plastic wrap from a mattress delivery to create the enclosure. Used some velcro tape to create an opening (my printer didn't need the extra height that the Prusa enclosure parts give it). In retrospect I could've just kept the foil, it still kept the temperature in and the breeze out! 🙂

In what regard? Are there issues with enclosures with too much volume? Asking since the mini will be my first printer and I already got myself a LACK table.

I dont get why people bother with printing cutting etc lqck enclosures while IKEA sells cheap and really nice Platsa system that are perfect for printer.
Cost is few euro more in Total

Many product lines are not available globally. PLASTA is one of them and can't be bought in the US.

What can I say? To each his own...
If it's your hobby, you have time and money, what's wrong with it. Others spend their money on other luxuries.

That actually explains a lot 🙂

Coz Lack enclosure is flimsy and wobbles a lot while Platsa cupboard is thick and sturdy 🙂
