New parts cooler have downwards facing intake. Why?

It's probably me that is a bit slow, but can someone explain to me why the new parts cooler seem to have a downwards facing intake?

I would assume, that this increases the temperature of the air being sucked in.
I would also assume that this increases the risk of strings and loose particles being ingested by the blower.

What am I missing here?

I kind of feel an urge to move the blower (and central point of gravity) closer to the gantry to improve stability - maybe also relocate the blower to sit above the extruder assembly and gearbox.
Obviously this would come with the cost of increasing the length of the ducting and increase loss of pressure, but if the blower has power enough...

RE:

Looking at the assembly manual it seams the new high flow fan has intakes on both sides.

Personally i would add another shroud to the downward intake to reduce turbulence at the print.
