Uneven Corners on Large Prints

Hey everyone,

We're running into an issue with our Prusa MK4s, and we're hoping for some advice. When printing large models, the corners are not even and appear grizzled, while prints in the middle of the bed turn out fine.

What we’ve tried so far:

  • Calibration went fine
  • We installed a new nozzle
  • Tested with two different filament  (all PLA)
  • Tried both PEI and textured sheets
  • Example prints: 0.2mm full-size test print (red), train station print

Since prints in the middle of the bed are good, could this be a bed leveling issue or something related to the heat distribution on the bed? Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanksfor any tips!

RE: Uneven Corners on Large Prints

That looks like your printer is printing a bit low.
Have you had a blob of doom recently sometimes waste material interferes with the strain gauge sensitivity,
If this persists try adjusting live Z adjust slightly positive say +0.1mm  or +0.2mm see if it improves your first layer.

Sorry Joan, but don't you think that 0.1 mm, let alone 0.2, it's a lot of Z adjust. ?. Or did you mean 0.01-0.02 mm ?

On large flat surfaces it's not easy to get a nice uniform finish. Bed mesh level works but it's not perfect. Thermal expansion plays an important role too, specially for  large areas where the first layer takes maybe 20 or more minutes to complete.
