The machine shifted where it was printing.
I’m attempting to print some spring spools. As shown in the picture, the whole print shifted in the middle of the print. The part attached to the base didn’t move. It’s like the machine continued the print after shifting an inch in the Y-axis.
How does this happen and how do I keep it from happening again?

It's a layer shift. Printhead got temporarily stuck on part of the print somehow, or there was a fault reading the gcode from the USB stick or the gcode file was corrupted. Or there was a random cosmic event which disturbed something. Or a pet cat.
- the commonest cause is a head crash and the two common causes of that are warping and poor adhesion; both allow parts of the print to rise into the head path....
Your parts look too small for warping to be a major problem so check the underside of the print for signs of lost adhesion and make doubly sure the print-sheet is clean before starting to print the replacement.
