MK4S Filament sensor not working after nozzle change

MK4S

Firmware: 6.1.3+7898

Changed nozzle to ObXidian 0.4 (not HF) yesterday using nozzle change tool (w sock). At first filament would not load, which I attributed to the thumb screws working loose. Fixed.

Started printing a standard benchy that stopped for Stuck Filament at about 23% several times. I attributed to this to running a gcode that was generated from a profile with a HF nozzle, while the new nozzle is not. I generated a new gcode with that change and it printed benchy perfectly.

After that, however, the filament sensor is not, well, sensing filament. When I insert filament into the top of the extruder it does not automatically load, and when filament is loaded the printer is telling me it isn't there.

Can an improperly seated nozzle damage or interrupt the filament sensor this way? If not, what is the likely cause?

RE: MK4S Filament sensor not working after nozzle change

A) Stuck Filament Detection can go bad; mine recently did, and I just turned it off, with no negative consequences (knock on wood).

B) I also had to replace the filament sensor.

C) Looking at design of the heat sink (which houses the filament sensor, I don't how you could have damaged it with a nozzle change.
