Issue when unloading filament

Hi,

Something strange happened yesterday with my MK4S (latest firmware). I started a print for which I knew I didn't have enough filament on the current roll, so I prepared a new roll and was watching the print. When the printer detected that there was not enough filament, it automatically unloaded it, asking me to confirm that the unload was successful. I tried to gently pull the few centimetres of filament left, but as I felt some unusual resistance, I indicated that the unload was not successful. I was then prompted to open the idler to remove the filament, which I did, but I had to pull the filament quite hard to get it out.

So the filament was out, but the printer complained that there was still some filament in the sensor (it was indeed "on" on the screen), but there was obviously no more filament in the sensor. I tried to put some filament through the sensor and remove it several times, but nothing changed. As I had no way to load new filament and continue my print, my only solution was to push the reset button. I could then successfully load my new filament, but I had to restart my print from the beginning ☹️

Did something like that already happen to you ? What would then be the solution?

And why are you actually waiting for the very end of the filament when you're sitting at the printer? All you had to do was choose to replace the filament in time, replace it in peace, and you could save yourself the hassle of extracting filament from the extruder. And the solution you are looking for is simple and described above, and those few centimeters of filament are hopefully worth it.

What you describe here looks like more of a workaround than a solution... Fortunately, I think I have found the solution, by executing again the filament calibration and it seems that the issue is gone.

Hello, I have similar issue. When I unload filament it will go as usual and when there is no filament it keep thinking there is one. As you are saying I had to push the resset button and my print in middle of printing had to go to bin....but I have this issue since the new update. I tried to clear the filament sensor with air so will se if it helps.

Althouhg, I have problems to connect to my printer in PrusaSlicer since the new update....
