How do I perform a dry run?

Hello,

I'm trying to see if I can use my printer as a pen plotter by just running a g-code with the extrusion and heating disabled. Are there any custom g-codes that achieve this effect?

I read somewhere that M111 S8 will disable extrusion but not heating. For heating I read there's commands like M104/M140 and M109/M190. But I'm not sure if there's a better way just disable the temperature for the whole g-code rather than try and edit each instant of where there would have been heating

RE:

Hello, did you get anywhere with your dry-run testing?

My plan is to put some tissue paper on the print bed, and use magnets to hold them down. I have arranged everything on the print bed to be as centred as possible, and I got the flattest magnets possible, but sadly one of the objects is so big it goes from corner to corner of the print bed.. So the print head could choose to go anyway possible.. I don't fancy rolling the dice on if it will be safe or not, so a dry run of running the printer with no heat and no extrusion would be best..

I did try to see if there was a way to test what it would do in the slicer, but sadly its very difficult to see it's movement over time, and estimate the size of the print head from the preview in PrusaSlicer.
