easy double print.volume modification?
I have it in my head that I could modify my trusty MK4 or MK3s to have twice the print volume. What do you think of the following?
It seems like an easy task to double the length of the y axis. The entire gantry could remain the same. Off the top of my head, these are issues to address are:
- Locate longer y axis extrusions
- Buy two heaters and two carriages
- Custom fabricate a double size steel sheet, or maybe garolite
- Buy a larger power supply to support the increased load
- Make changes to the open source firmware (maybe depending on #6 below)
- Make a new printer definition in prisa slicer.
I see some challenges. What do you think?
