Click Click - Filament stuck.
Hey everyone,
I’m new to 3D printing, so please explain things like I’m 5! 😅
I assembled my MK4S with no issues, updated the firmware, and my first two dozen prints were perfect. No problems at all.
But last night, about 15 minutes into a print, I got my first "stuck filament" error.
I reloaded and resumed, but 30 seconds later, it happened again. After 10 back-to-back stuck filament errors, I shut it down and did a few cold pulls.Tried again—first 10 minutes printed fine... then CLICK CLICK – filament stuck.
I disabled filament stuck detection, and it still prints, but now the extruder clicks constantly, and the print quality is poor, so that's not a solution.
What should I check next? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
RE: Click Click - Filament stuck.
Did you try looking through the nozzle against light?
Maybe, I would check the gear box for missing tooth.
Rare these day but easy to check: Measure your filament diameter - is it within spec?
Open the nextruder idler and brush out any dust, you will need to advance the cog from the LCD menu to get it all.
Check you have set the idler pressure screws correctly - review the build manual section.
Load PLA but tell the printer it is PETG. When prompted to check the colour click 'No' a couple of times to purge (runny because too hot) filament and then do a cold pull from the LCD menu.
Cheerio,
RE: Click Click - Filament stuck.
Excellent, thank you!
After going through the steps, everything seems to be working good now. Although, I can't pinpoint any specific item that was of issue. The nozzle was clear, the gears looked good, the idler was set properly. I didn't change anything, but once I got it back together, I did a 24h print with no issue. Either way, I'm back printing again, thank you for the suggestions.
