Changed nozzle, now getting "collision detected" during pre-print?

Hi!

So, I just changed the nozzle on my MK4S for the first time. I used the Nozzle Replacement Tool (with sock), and I think it went okay.

Then I started a new print, and the printer put the nozzle to the front left corner and bonked it several times, as usual. But then it kept bonking, which made me nervous. And then the screen said "collision detected", and the nozzle just kept donking itself on the front left corner of the print plate, over and over.

There is no guide with photos on how to change the nozzle with the Nozzle Replacement Tool on the MK4S tutorial pages, so I guess I might have done something wrong. I just unscrewed the nozzle and pulled it out, and then slid the new nozzle in and screwed it in.

When the nozzle was hitting (gently) the front left corner of the print plate, the part that the silicone sock is around was oscillating as it hit the plate and then rose again. Is that normal?

Thank you in advance, I'm not super technical so I'm not confident here! This is my first 3D printer and the first time I've changed the nozzle, so all guidance is very much appreciated.

Edit to add: The block that the nozzle is poking out of rotates freely to the left and right, and also moves up and down, when I push it gently with my fingers. Is that normal?

I'm trying again, and first the screen said "Homing", then it bumped the sheet repeatedly while saying "detecting steel sheet", and then it said it couldn't detect the steel sheet, and I chose "retry" rather than "continue". It retried for a minute or so, and now it says "A printer collision has been detected." Underneath a picture of the nozzle with crash lines around it, it says "Homing" and has a loading animation.

I have to assume I've messed something up during the nozzle change. 🙁 I'm not sure what to do.
