MK3S Upgrade to MK4 incl. MMU3 instructions?

Hello,

I would like to convert our MK3S with the MK4 Upgrade Kit. I would also like to use the MMU3 directly on the new MK4. Are there any assembly instructions that go well with the MK4 upgrade instructions so that the MMU3 can be fitted directly without any extra work?

thx Gerrit

the Mk4 requires a small number of changes to prepare it for the MMU3

If I recall correctly these are:
Change the Idler roller side pieces
change the Idler nut assembly
Revise the filament sensor
Change the Planetary gear main plate to enable the revised filament sensor arm
 these are all minor changes.
regards Joan

Thank you for your answer. I also don't think it's much work, but as I'm upgrading the MK4 from the MK3 first, I wanted to see if I'd have to dismantle anything again straight away. My idea was that there might be a workaround/tutorial to integrate the MMU3 directly into the conversion process?

I am not aware of any fast track documents that prepare the mmu3 version of the Mk4 straight off the bat...

RE: MK3S Upgrade to MK4 incl. MMU3 instructions?

MMU3 and MK4 nextruder related updates get a little confusing.

There are parts to upgrade the MMU2 to MMU3.    Then there are parts to upgrade the MK4 or MK4S Nextruder for use with the MMU3.    Idler, mainplate and sensor are updated in the MK4/S Nextruder for use with the MMU3.   I call it Nextruder 1.1 since it solves problems others have had without using an MMU.

As I understand it, you have an MK3s with working MMU3, correct?  You want to upgrade to the MK4/S with a kit.   Then there are unique extruder parts for the MMU3 that you also need.  These Extruder parts come in standalone kits when the MMU3 already exists.  MK4 update for MMU3 from MK3S or MK4s Update for MMU3 from a MK3s

If you have the MK4/S upgrade kit and the correct MK4 Nextruder update for the MMU3, then you can build it all at once.  The instructions are online.  The Nextruder upgrade may be under the MMU3 upgrade documents.   MK4 and MK4S use the same Nextruder update parts for the MMU3.

If you are ordering an MMU3, then order it for the MK4/4s  and make sure it comes with the Nextruder parts.   I already had the MK4 and that is what I did to update my old MMU2.

The Nextruder upgrade parts for the MMU3 are printed by Prusa on special 3D machines.  This was to prevent deformation and wear.   The material they are made with handles heat better.   Most people do not have the means to print the equivalent parts.   The price is relatively cheap to buy the kit.

Thank you for your answer. My start was a MK3S, which. I wanted to upgrade to MK4 incl. MMU3. In the meantime, I've also finished it. In the end, there was a lot less that had to be changed on the MK4 after it was finished in order to fit the MMU3 than I expected. After all, the MK4 is supposed to work properly before an MMU3 is fitted. I couldn't have guaranteed that with a direct conversion. That's why in the end I decided to upgrade MK3S to MK4 first and only then fit the MMU3 unit.

Many thanks for your suggestions
