debris on print bed

Recently my MK4S has started leaving debris on the print bed during long prints.  I've changed the nozzle assembly completely, tried several different filaments, including Prusament, and a new spool of filament.  I'm printing with PETG, using default settings and /or custom settings with no difference in outcome. I've attached a photo of the debris (sorry for the shadows). Do any of you have suggestions as to what might be causing this issue or how to correct it?

Thank you in advance.

RE: debris on print bed

Can we see a picture of what it looks like after the print with the print still on the print bed?  I'd like to see where it's dropping on the print.

A picture of the nozzle too after the print would be nice.

Is it only with this red filament, or all PETG?

How are you drying your filament?

Are you using grid infill?

I've tried grid infill, rectilinear grid, and honeycomb with the same result.

Here is a photo of a similar issue.  This is a new spool of filament.  It seems that the z axis needs to be recalibrated, but that has been done.  The extruder is hitting the print and jarring it loose from the print bed when I don't use supports.  When supports are enabled, I get the debris mentioned in the original post.  I'm not sure how to proceed.

RE: debris on print bed

Looks like really poor bed adhesion combined with a layer shift.

I'd give your print sheet a really good cleaning with hot water and soap.  Then Also make sure that your nozzle does not have any plastic buildup on it.

Check to make sure that you're nozzle assembly is not loose. When it's cold see if you can move it up and down with your hand, it should not move.

What print profile are you using speed or structural.  Also what nozzle temperature are you using?

Agreed, the build sheet needs a thorough clean.  Also try cubic infill and dry your filament before use.

Those were my first thoughts so I cleaned the bed and completely changed the nozzle assembly: block, nozzle,  thermistor, and heater with the same result.  I agree about the layer shift, but can't figure out the cause.

I've tried the speed setting, as well as structural with temps from 230 up to 250, bed temp 85 to 100.

I'll try the cubic infill.  The filament was a new spool from a sealed package, open immediately before starting the print.

You didn't dry it?

No. I'm still inexperienced enough that I didn't realize it would make that much difference.  I have another run going now with cubic infill to see what might happen.

It didn't get the first layer down before the print head started dragging across the bed and ripping up the bits it just laid down.  Maybe it's a different problem than I thought.

RE:

Yes you've got something else going on if the nozzle is dragging on the bed.  Tough to diagnose at this point without being able to physically be at the printer.

Maybe try recalibrating the z axis.

New filament was packed dry - but you have no idea for how long it sat on a wholesaler's shelf or how it was treated in transit.

Dry it and retry - that will eliminate one possible or contributary cause.  I suspect there may be a live 'Z' setting issue but until we are sure that moisture is not involved we cannot safely diagnose it.
