Best nozzle for printing with glow in the dark PLA
I'm printing with glow in the dark PLA on a MK4S, and have been having issues with prints, and was told that glow in the dark filament is abrasive for the nozzle we currently have at the makerspace.
I'm looking to invest in either a MK4S or CORE One. What should I use for a nozzle to minimize the abrasiveness of said filament?
RE: Best nozzle for printing with glow in the dark PLA
A hardened steel standard nozzle should be good. I have a standard diamond nozzle I run everything through. I haven't tried it through a High Flow or CHT nozzles.
Also long runs through PTFE tubes tends to be problem since the outer surface of the filament has a rough or abrassive feel to it. It drags in the PTFE tubes. It may not run through an MMU setup well as a result. That is what I found with the brand I used.
RE:
I use ObXidian nozzles (non High Flow/CHT) from Prusa for all filaments, glow-in-the dark and CF filaments. I have encountered no negative side-effects so far and no degradation of the ObXidian nozzles that I have in use. I only change them for different diameters, 0.4 to 0.6 mm and back.
Glow-in-the-dark is not very abrasive so in my Mk3 days I used to save old, worn, brass nozzles and finish them off printing GITD - if you're not too fussy about the finish you can print just one more spool of filament before the nozzle is completely useless. On the XL I have an obxidian nozzle that handles GITD well but it's best to bypass the PTFE feeder tube and load directly to the nextruder from above as the filament, like a lot of abrasives, tends to grip and abrade the tubes from the inside. This tendency to grip the inside of the tube, incidentally, is also why it's worth feeding TPE's directly to the toolhead from above. Whilst your Mk4 should be similar to the Mk3 anyone here with a Core One may find it best to follow my XL practice. Minis are never going to print GITD well.
Cheerio,
