TPU tips?

Hello,

I am trying to print a phone case in Filatech FilaFlexible40 TPU and I am having trouble with bed adhesion. I tried printing on a textured sheet with and without glue and every single time it curls. Any tips?

These are some things I try when I have bed adhesion issues:

1. Z:   You didn't show the underside.. any chance the Z is too high? You could manually tweak the Z down a bit as it starts to print to see if you get better adhesion.

2. Bed temp:  I sometimes increase bed temp 5-10 deg.

3.  Nozzle temp.. you could increase the first layer temp by 5-10 deg..

4.  I always use glue stick with TPU

I haven't tried printing TPU on a textured sheet. Sometimes you can tune it out by increasing or decreasing the bed and or the nozzle temp.

Otherwise I've had the best luck printing TPU on a glass sheet.

I also had excellent results with the satin sheet. No glue, no spray, just a clean sheet - adhesion was perfect.

Upon further investigation the bed temp was to blame. For FilaFlex40 the bed temp was set to 50c when the product page recommends 60c. I turned it up to 60 and it went smoothly only ever so slightly curled where the camera is supposed to go and I don't think I could get around that without adding a brim. Thanks for the tips.

Hi Boomerguy,

Can you describe further your setup on textured sheet ?

The doc I have from Filatech is recommending a smooth bed at 50°C.

It works fine for me on PEI or Satin with no glue and good adhesion

But in case of TXT sheet, the adhesion with no glue is enormous (means very very difficult to remove the print) and with the white standard glue that I have, the adhesion becomes ridiculous

Let me know

Have a good day

It's been a while since I made that print and I don't have the phone case anymore. If I remember correctly I didn't use glue on the textured sheet @ 60c the reason being I wanted a textured feel on the underside and I didn't want a tacky feel from the glue stick and it was my understanding that the textured sheet was good for it. I didn't have the satin sheet and I did try the smooth sheet but I didn't use any glue and it got stuck. I'm willing to bet that the smooth sheet with glue would have worked at that temperature. What I meant when I said product page was the product page on the prusa shop not the filatech shop. I guess the only way to make sure is to print it again as a sanity check.

Result on the smooth sheet no glue:
