MK4 stops printing LW PLA mid print
Hi, I recently bought prusa mk4 and had a lot of fun with it. Currently I'm trying to print parts of rc plane with LW PLA and it much less fun hehe.
I'm trying to print this: https://3dlabprint.com/shop/piperj3cub/
I'm using eSun ePla-LW: https://www.esun3d.com/epla-lw-product/
I'm using the recommended setting from here: https://3dlabprint.com/faq/prusaslicer/ and slicing the parts with prusa slicer.
I tried printing the ready gcode files but I'm having same problem as with the ones I sliced myself which is that the extrusion stops mid-print.
I tried slowing down the print (40 to 30mm/s), I got slightly more printed but it still didn't finish.
I tried rising the extrusion multiplier (0.5 to 0.6), and similarly I got slightly more printed but it didn't finish as well :/
I would be grateful for some help!
BTW all the regular PLA prints I did were ok. (I even managed to print Jupyter from here which is amazing!: https://www.printables.com/model/1087513-solar-system-lithophane-planet-lamp-collection-205 ).
RE: MK4 stops printing LW PLA mid print
For anyone interested: the problem disappeared when I turn off retraction completely: filament settings -> filament overrides -> retraction length 0.
3dlabprints recommends in their faq retraction length 0.01 and that's what is set in their 3mf files. In the guide for the plane they say that it might cause problems so you might want to turn it off completely.
RE: MK4 stops printing LW PLA mid print
What filament profiles were you using? The generic Prusa ones are a good starting point
RE: MK4 stops printing LW PLA mid print
The plane comes with 3mf files that contain print, filament and printer settings. I would use them as starting point (only changing printer to my mk4). (Some people have success with this approach: .)
I'm not sure, but I think there is no generic Prusa profile for LW PLA.
