Intermittent skewed solid infill path segments - how?

Some strange behavior on my MK3S-to-MK4 popped up last week.  Occasionally while laying down solid infill, the toolhead will seemingly overtravel along the y axis and correct itself, leaving a little blob, gap, and slightly slanted line on top of the previous lines.  It has done this on three separate gcodes, but not consistently on any of them - about 50/50.  Default profiles of IS-0.4n-0.2l-speed and Normal-0.4n-0.3l-draft and Fillamentum PLA were used for slicing, all three gcodes produced good parts on at least one run.

The layer is a bit thin at 0.15mm instead of 0.20mm, but that isn't new and it occurs on subsequent layers as well.  I swapped the nozzle midway through as a Hail Mary, no change.  It failed the y-axis self check several times, but I didn't find anything suspicious or wrong while taking it apart.  I have no idea what would cause such straight defects without either being consistent between gcode runs or layer shifting like crazy.  Any ideas?
