Improving fine details, suggestions?

Hi All,

I recently built a MK4 kit and I'm quite keen to get back into 3d printing 😁

I'm wondering how can I improve the details (ears) on this print?

Filament is Prusament PLA Galaxy Black.

I used the Prusament PLA profile in PrusaSlicer. Everything was left as default except I turned the hot end temperature down 5C to reduce stringing (which helped that). I also used enabled brim and supports (all default).

Printer is MK4. Nozzle is standard 0.4mm brass. I haven't enabled input shaping. System preset was 0.2mm SPEED.

Model is  https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5913303 which I scaled down to 60%.

The rest of the model printed quite well. There was a bit of stringing still. And the back legs broke off with when removing the supports. I'll be more careful next time, but maybe layer adhesion isn't as good as printing at the standard hotter temperature.

As I'm typing this I noticed the layers in the slicer look a bit weird. Are there any slicer settings I can change to beef up the ears?

Yeah, change from Arachne to Classic perimeter slicing.  Or start adjusting the Arachne slicing parameters (got to be in either expert or advanced mode for that though).

Also for thin pointy areas like that go into Filament Settings and change the Slow down if layer time is XX to a much lower value like 2-3 seconds and change the minimum print speed to match your small perimeters extrusion speed.  That was it wont slow down and stay in the same spot too long and reheat the plastic.
