Best settings for 28mm miniatures for MK4 and 0,25mm nozzle using PLA
Dear all,
I really tried to find necessary data how to define the settings for MK4 using a 0,25mm nozzle if I want to print high detailed miniatures. I was not very successful so
With Galaxy Sliver filament (yes, it is dry) I started with a lot of stringing. Temperature-settings was too high (230°C first Layer / 225°C further layers). Worked fine for 0,4mm nozzle, but not for 0,25mm nozzle. Now I tried to optimize stringing with all data to be found actually, but I am still not absolutely happy... maybe we can share our data
My findings so far:
- Temperature has the highest influence on stringing, but if temperature is to low, clogging becomes a problem. For Galaxy Sliver: 100°C seems to be ok
- Layer height has the second most influence on stringing. 0,12mm works quite fine, below 0,1mm, stringing become severe.
- Speed seems to have not an impact, the Input-Shaper looks even better with the normal profile (assumption)
- Retraction seems to be not to have an very important impact using 0,25mm nozzle
- Extrusion-Factor below 1 does not have an impact on stringing
I added my test-prints above and this is my best-case solution now (see below). Is there anyone out there, who also wants to print miniatures with / 0,25mm nozzle? I would be happy to share results. There are many data out there for Ender3 with Cura (Youtube: "Tomb of 3D Printed Horrors"), but this is not 1:1 transferable to prusa-slicer

Forgot to show you: This is my best result so far after the removal of strings by heat-gun 🙂
But not comparable with this post:

RE: Best settings for 28mm miniatures for MK4 and 0,25mm nozzle using PLA
Four very important updates/news about printing miniatures with MK4
1) I got my new NTC thermistor, which now shows correct temperature. Anyhow, this did not improve the printings, it only improves, that I do not have to reduce temperatures artificially at about 20°C.
2) I was fighting between stringing and clogging, the later one is more serious but I was not able to find a sweetspot with PLA Prusament Galaxy Sliver.
3) I changed the filament to eSUN PLA+ Silver and look the comparsion below
4) Parametergeneration "classic" gives more details than "archane" and 0,1mm height is sufficient
Stringing is still a problem with the eSUN PLA+ Silver, but no clogging anymore, I print at 195°C. Retraction-settings gives not a high improvement of stringing...
Two conclusions:
1) Get the temperature right
2) Get the right filament, especially: avoid any filament with silk or silk-like additives if you are using 0,25mm nozzles
I would love to get info from your approaches if applicable or a feedback if my stuff is interesting for you...
