Weird print anomaly

My Prusa-built MK4 randomly prints what looks like a shifted or squished layer on one end of the print. It happens about 14mm up from the print bed and only on one end of the print in the Y axis. It happens toward the end facing the control panel (Y zero). It's done this from day 1.

It doesn't happen all the time. My Prusa MK3 and Mini both print this same design without problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.

RE: Weird print anomaly

Check your bottom layer is flat.  Stick a straight rule across it.   To me it looks like contraction has caused the part to bow upwards and its detached on one side.  This leaves less space and so all the layers above get extra compressed, this leads to more being squished out sideways.

Classic symptom of insufficient bed adhesion.

Agreed.  Warping and or poor adhesion.  Check you are not printing in a draft.  Make certain the print sheet is clean; is this the area where you hold it and add fingerprints?

Thanks for the reply.

That print lifted a tiny bit, but the lift looks more severe than it was since there is a bevel on the bottom. This print lifted on both ends an equal amount but the shift only happened on one end. I've had prints lift a small amount before, and never has it resulted in a single layer shifting so much out of line with the underlying layer

I've printed thousands of this print on minis and Mk3 printers and never seen this single layer issue.

I'll put the printer in an enclosure to see if that eliminates the issue.

Thanks again for the reply.
