Stepper motor brand names...

Hello,

I replaced the Y-axis stepper motor on my MK4.  The original stepper motor is this one:

The new part looks like this (I bought this one from Prusa; they were backordered for a while):

I noticed the end connectors were different.  The original motor had a connector at the motor, that then goes to the buddy board and that connects to an adapter that in turn plugs into the buddy board.  The new motor just plugs directly into the buddy board.  So I had to do some cleanup and remove the extra cable.

Why are they different?  I bought my machine used and it is an upgraded MK3.9 to MK4 model.  Is this an early version of the motors?

Thanks!

It looks like the previous owner has, for whatever reason, replaced the original with a cheap generic part.  Prusa's motors have been badged, engineered to purpose and identified for at least six years...  'though the X and Y axis motors are almost unmodified apart from connectors.

Cheerio,

RE:

The X- and Y- stepper motors have only just been added to the Prusa shop in the last week or so.  I don't believe they'd ever been listed before, so I don't think 'backordered' is the correct term.  Previously, if you wanted to upgrade a MK3.9 to use 0.9° stepper motors like the MK4, the only way was to find an alternative model with similar specs, e.g. https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3-5-mk3-9-hardware-firmware-and-software-help/mk-3-9-with-mk4-z-axis-motors/#post-679493
