Question on Binary G-Code

I updated my PrusaSlicer to the latest version today and when I sliced my first print with it I got a message when I went to save the G-Code. It said the firmware on my MK4 needed to be at least the latest version 5.1.x or the "Binary G-code" would not work. I went and checked my printer and I was running v 5.01 do I updated it. My question is about the file saved as a .BGCODE as opposed to a .GCODE file. Does this mean from now on that all files will have to be binary gcode to run on the printer? Or is there an option to switch to regular .gcode files?

Thanks

RE: Question on Binary G-Code

You can switch back, "Print Settings" -> "Output options" -> "Export as binary G-code"

Ok, thanks for the info. Why would a binary gcode be useful over a regular gcode file? Is that for input shaping or faster speeds? Just curious.

RE: Question on Binary G-Code

It is significantly smaller, so faster to transfer and less space taken up. Also potentially avoids problems my size limit on fat32
