Prusa USB Flash drive died again
Hello,
what is your experience with Prusa Flash Drive lifespan? Mine died for a second time in a month. Basic usage of printer and usb drive and 6days total printing time.
Printer reads no files, PC alerts that drive is not accessible thus filesystem repair not awailable and reformat is the last resort.

It's a flash drive, which in my hands are all crap, regardless of how much money you spend. I've had Prusa drives last forever, and I've had drive I had spent an obscene amount of money on die within a month. I wish there were more reliable storage directly on board.

After some months and moderate usage again, now even unformatted without an option to check for errors and repair. Crap. Last time I had a problem with USB Drive was 15 years ago. Since then no USB drive I had performed so poorly than this Prusa branded little brick.
The commonest cause of flash drive corruption is removing the drive whilst it is still being written to.
Some gcode files are big enough that they take a few seconds to write and some computer operating systems cache writes until they see an eject command ...
it's easy to get into the habit of clicking eject and pulling out the drive next moment - this is usually ok for small files but can fail when the file is larger, the answer, of course, is to wait for the 'safe to remove' or 'unmount complete' response.

I never used my Prusa USB stick as a means of transfer of files from PC to Printer. It has been inserted to the printer all the time. Disconnecting while in use is not a case here. Thanks for your reply.
and another cause is intermittent connection and incomplete file transfer. Wired connections should be OK but if you are using wifi around moving machinery you must expect problems.
