Prints consistently flawed, not sure the cause

After months of working great I'm starting to have issues with my factory built MK4. The prints have glaring flaws/lines in the walls that are reproducible as you can see in the attached photo. I've tried different filaments and changed nozzles to no avail. What is this type of error called and what adjustments/fixes are needed?

I'm using Prusa Slicer 2.6.1 with firmware 5.0.0. The model is sliced with Prusament PETG and input shaping with a .4mm nozzle.

Note this is not the only model producing poor results. Thanks for your advice.

Posting this update for those who follow. I spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting including slicing with Cura which printed correctly so I knew it wasn't the printer setup. Long story short I discovered that the gcode file on the printer was corrupted. I identified this as an issue in two different gcode files. When I manually copied the gcode file from PrusaSlicer to the USB device the print would work properly. It isn't 100% clear if it was a network issue or a USB issue. I replaced the USB drive.

RE: Prints consistently flawed, not sure the cause

There is a known bug (known as in 'knowing that it happens', not as in 'why it does happen') affecting file transfers over the network (both WiFi and wired). When it happens contents on the GCODE files are (more or less randomly) exchanged. It seems to only happen when using larger USB drives for storage (I think all reporters which could reproduce used a 256GB drive).

Thanks for that news. I was using a larger drive when this happened. I switched back to the one that came with the printer and also ordered a small drive.

Always great when a member comes back with an update/fix, rather then just ignoring the issue once resolved. Makes the forum a valuable place for information!!! Thanks!

So in the end it was a corrupted file in your case as well. Happy to hear you solved it 🙂
