Nextruder Heaterblock Threading
I got two new Prusa nozzles yesterday(a .6mm and a .4mm as a backup for the original one). I went to install the .6 mm and had no issues removing the .4mm the printer came with. However, when I went to install the .6, I found it tightened in part way and wouldn’t tighten any further. After a lot of looking at it and trying again(including with the original nozzle, which now wouldn’t screw back on), I found that the threading on the Heaterblock seemed to be messed up and the nozzles were catching on the wrong “thread”. Took a while, but I finally managed to get the .6 on by screwing it on from the other side and kinda screwing it back and forth before trying again.
My question: the instructions make no mention of this possibility of messing up the threads just by screwing a new nozzle on and I followed all of them to the letter. Is this just some weird user error or indicative of a problem with this particular heater block?
RE: Nextruder Heaterblock Threading
Not a user error. I experienced the same thing with multiple nozzles and heater blocks.
RE: Nextruder Heaterblock Threading
Had the same issue. I used a M6 tap to refresh the thread. To get support from the undamaged thread I did the tapping from the opposite direction. Let's see what happens the next time. Perhaps a new heater block made from beryllium copper would work better?
