need opinions on the test Simplify 3d mk4 profile

Hello,

I'm totally blind, and am pretty much fed up with the huge accessibility issues in Prusa Slicer.

I own Simplify 3d, and it works quite well with screen readers.

Has anyone tried the mk4 profile that Simplify3d can send you if you contact their support department? I have the profile, just wondering if anyone has found any issues with it before I use it.

I assume it won't work with input shaper unfortunately.

Prusa are legally required to address accessibility issues with any commercial software including their websites; open source and 'free' software doesn't have such strict requirements.  That said, Prusa's developers can only fix what they know about but they are decent types and want their software to be useable.

The command line is comprehensive but extremely complex, it should be possible to construct some useable proformas for simple cases.  Prusa Support may be able to get you started in that direction.

I suggest you contact Prusa Support via chat and ask how you can offer testing assistance to the dev team - that way your issues will at least be looked at...

Unfortunately I don't have enough experienc with Simplify3d to help with your initial question.

Cheerio,

RE: need opinions on the test Simplify 3d mk4 profile

Hello -

This is a MK4 printing profile that I received from simplify 3D support.

It works well so far with my MK4. Click the link and download the .fff file and import it into simplify3D.
I am using their latest version of software.

The profile from Simplify3D  for the MK4  is not working good for me, the printer does not print continuously, it stop constantly for a second  and continues, try various files same result, this files print OK when processed with PrusaSlicer, I have using only Simplify3d for years without problems.

RE:

I get good results on my MK4 using Simplify3D with the profile provided by their support (same as the one posted earlier by Nater) as long as I have firmware version 5.0.1 installed.   However, the profile does not work for me with firmware 5.1.0 or 5.1.2 installed, even for previously Simplify3D-sliced gcode files (it under-extrudes significantly). I have verified this by downgrading the firmware back to 5.0.1 (and previously-sliced files work as well).

I experienced the same as rwsorden too. Simplify3D V5.1.2 profile worked with PRUSA MK4 firmware 5.0.1, but not 5.1.2. I rolled back to 5.0.1 and everything worked fine again.

With firmware 5.0.1, I get good printing layers, with no problem. Then I updated the printer with firmware 5.1.2 to ensure latest updates. The problem came immediately, even though with the same Gcode file that worked in 5.0.1. Basically, the first layer is printed, then the second layer starts to under extrude, and the third layer onwards is blank, and the printer continues with printing movement even though nothing is coming out of the extruder. I tried also to pause printing after the third layer, and did a filament purge to ensure filament came out of the extruder, then resumed the print, then it continued to print one layer and then started under extrusion the next layer and then blank again. Something in firmware 5.1.2 is just not compatible with the Simpliy3D profile given.

Also, I noted that the printer screen shows the thumbnail of the print file selected in 5.0.1, but in 5.1.2 it didn't show any thumbnails.
