MK4 No longer reading USB drives

Hello, this evening my MK4 stopped recognizing the original USB drive that came with my printer. I have a new usb drive but even formatted to NTFS and the windows machine recognizes the usb drive the printer will not read the new drive. I will get on a call with Prusa tomorrow but so far I am stuck now and can't use my printer because it won't read the usb stick. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The USB drive must be FAT32 formatted!

RE: MK4 No longer reading USB drives

This has happened to me.  Perfectly working USB stick and then, after loading bgcode file(s) from my laptop the printer would not read the file.

  • I formatted the stick several times.  Eventually, it worked.
  • When you copy files to the stick make sure you unmount the drive before removing it from your computer.  I've had this make the drive 'unreadable' by the printer.
  • I have also noticed if you have a lot of files on the root of the stick, the printer takes quite some time reading them.  I've made folders and moved printed files to them.  Or, remove them completely from the stick's root.

Finally, you can still use your printer if you set up wireless.  You can upload files that way.

No, you can't, because the USB drive is the printer's storage. It will refuse to accept any uploaded files if there is no storage.

RE:

Hello, I had a similar problem, the printer sometimes cannot read from USB. (after formatting it works again)  I chatted with support and the bottom line is:  genuine USB sticks are not top quality and this happens. Buy a usb stick. Contact support and they will issue you a voucher. (if you have warranty)
