MK4 after update Firmware 5.1.2 (Bootloader 2.3.4) Printer is not starting
I installed the new Firmware 5.1.2 today (Released 15.12.2023).
But now the Bootloader is hanging, it seems he has 100%, but after 5 Minutes the Display didn't change the picture.
I start the Printer for 6 times new, but it doesn't work
RE: MK4 after update Firmware 5.1.2 (Bootloader 2.3.4) Printer is not starting
The booting finished, if the USB-Stick is in, without USB-Stick, it doesn't finish.
Anyone the same issue?

The solution with the USB-Stick, is not a really solution, the same issue after 3 starts. Igo back to the old firmware
RE:
try to reinstall the FW? Otherwise, install the older FW. Put the older FW on the USB stick. After pushing reset, push once the Knob. This must force installing the older FW.

RE: MK4 after update Firmware 5.1.2 (Bootloader 2.3.4) Printer is not starting
I can reinstall the older version without any problem. However, the issue lies in the inability to install the newer version.
Are there alternative methods available aside from using a USB stick?
Is it possible to utilize the USB-C port for the update process?

Is this common enough for me to avoid 5.1.2?
RE: MK4 after update Firmware 5.1.2 (Bootloader 2.3.4) Printer is not starting
I was able to upgrade my MK4 from 5.1.0 to 5.1.2 without any problems.
RE: MK4 after update Firmware 5.1.2 (Bootloader 2.3.4) Printer is not starting
I had the same problem and found this GitHub issue on the upgrade problem: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-Buddy/issues/3629
I have downgraded to version 5.1.0 and the boot now works again - the bootloader is kept at the new version 2.3.4.
Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

It was me who reported that on GitHub.
still didn’t find a solution. I reverted back to the previous version.
I guess I’ll wait for next update.
RE: MK4 after update Firmware 5.1.2 (Bootloader 2.3.4) Printer is not starting
Same problem here: Got the printer with FW 5.0.1 -> updated to 5.1.2 without any problems. After a restart, it gets stuck in the start screen.
Downgrading to 5.1.0 fixed the problem, but a bad solution...
RE: MK4 after update Firmware 5.1.2 (Bootloader 2.3.4) Printer is not starting
I have the same problem as the person who opened the thread. So I have also reverted to 5.1.0. Today I tried the new version 5.1.3, but again the MK4 won't finish booting. Now I'm back to 5.1.0 again...
RE: MK4 after update Firmware 5.1.2 (Bootloader 2.3.4) Printer is not starting
I had the same problem when I set up my printer. I uploaded FW 5.1.0 so I could get the printer up and running. I have now been able to upgrade my firmware to 5.1.3 via Prusa connect.
Hope this helps others with the same problem

I didn't use Prusa Connect. What does Prusa mean to solve the issue?
But when Prusa Connect the only option to solve the problem is, then i must create a account only for updating...not realy a fine solution.
RE: MK4 after update Firmware 5.1.2 (Bootloader 2.3.4) Printer is not starting
My MK4, delivered last week, has firmware 5.1.3 And this bootloader problem which hangs during launch also appeared (2 or 3 times)
Once, the reset was not enough (new blockage), the machine had to be turned off and restarted.
RE: MK4 after update Firmware 5.1.2 (Bootloader 2.3.4) Printer is not starting
I just had this issue and found a way to fix it (Although I can't really explain why that worked...):
-I installed the latest firmware (6.1.3) with an official Prusa USB key.
-Got the same issue: the orange status bar stopped midway. Restarting the Prusa wouldn't fix the problem.
-I took another (non-Prusa) USB key, transfered with the same latest firmware (6.1.3) and plugged it in the Prusa while the orange bar was stuck midway.
-A new message appeared: "Updating bootloader". After this installation was complete, the Prusa booted correctly!!
Maybe the official Prusa USB keys have some defect making it able to install the new firmware and not the bootloader. And the new firmware can't be booted with older versions of the bootloader? I don't know... but it worked! I hope this helps somebody else! 🙂
