Heater test fails with silicon sock on 5.1.0 firmware
I have two MK4, and decided to re-run the self tests to see if it resolves my first layer being too high issue that I've been having. Both MK4s have a silicon sock, and both passed all tests previously on 5.0.1 firmware. This time around one of the printers kept failing the hotend heater test for some reason. I ended up taking off the silicon sock and re-testing and it then passed. Anyone else run into this issue? It seems like yet another software related bug.
RE: Heater test fails with silicon sock on 5.1.0 firmware
I have a sock on 5.1.0 with no problems . You have set the menu option that tells the mk4 you have a sock ?
RE: Heater test fails with silicon sock on 5.1.0 firmware
Yes, menu option was already set to enable the sock. I even tried a second time to ensure that option was checked. The other mK4 I have running 5.1.0 passed the test with sock, so no idea what is going on. I'll likely reach out to Prusa via chat when I have some more time.
RE: Heater test fails with silicon sock on 5.1.0 firmware
It could be related to the thermistor on the hot end. I had the opposite issue where it thought there was a sock but there wasn't. I replaced the thermistor and everything is fine now.
RE: Heater test fails with silicon sock on 5.1.0 firmware
Ahh, yes I'm working with support still on the issue, but I'm thinking it likely is the thermistor as well. When you say you replaced the thermistor, do you mean the hotend block as the thermistor is inside that correct?
RE: Heater test fails with silicon sock on 5.1.0 firmware
Yep, there is a small set or grub screw in the hot end block that holds the thermistor. It was easy to change. Really love the new design of the quick swap hot end. It makes working on the hot end so quick and easy Let us know how it goes.
RE: Heater test fails with silicon sock on 5.1.0 firmware
Just to close this thread out, it turns out the problem was my thermistor. I replaced the hotend thermistor and now the test passes without problems.

Thanks for the update!
